Dell DIM2400 needs more memory

Hello, I want to add some more memory to my friends super slow dell. It has a celeron 2.4ghz processor w/ 256mb ram. I am not sure what type to buy (PC2700, PC3200 etc.). I have read that these dell low end PC's can be real difficult to do a memory upgrade unless you buy "dell" memory. Please advise!

According to this: http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Dimension+2400+Series you need DDR 2700 or faster. Find a stick of DDR 2700 512mb and it should be decently faster.

It's most likely PC2700. I would take a look at what's in their using CPU-Z or just open up the case. I replaced my parents memory with a 512MB stick and it worked just fine.

It supports a max of 1GB of either PC2100 or PC2700. You can add either a stick of the same speed as you currently have or replace the 256MB in there with a 512MB stick of whichever speed you can get cheaper.
That comp has onboard video with shared ram which is probably why its slow.
