Quit whining and build it, jizz.

Damn straight. My $450 pc >$1,200 Dell

Specs? Details? Where did you get the parts?

Sempron 2600+ (overclocked by 300 MHz, eBay)
1 GB Corsair DDR 400 ram (zipzoomfly)
80GB WD SATA HD (Newegg)
17" Dell LCD (bought cheap from a friend)
Gigabyte Socket A motherboard (Newegg)
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro (eBay)
Raidmax Case (Newegg)
300W Fortron Power Supply (FS/FT)

Added Logitech 5.1 speakers, standard keyboard, TV tuner, and MX510 gaming mouse from my old pc.

Ok, now, after 7 months, it's not as good as a $1,200 Dell, but at the time it was (did a benchmark comparison against friend's $1,200 Dell sytem). Not a lot of upgrade otions, I know, but I don't plan on using it for more than a year more anyways.

Hey Crono, who manufactured that 9700 pro? just curious.

and how were your benchmarks compared to the Dell?

a couple folks from the office here just got shiny new Dells. i was deluged by tech support questions on a daily basis - i'm glad they got new systems. their setups were archaic & prone to problems at every turn.

I've always built my own, and had an "anti-dell" attitude, but when my job gave me this GX620 I changed my mind. It's quiet as hell and with a good vid card games very well also.

Dell deals come and go. After they have especially good deals they go thru a period where they sell the same models for say, 100 more. Most people only remember the low prices Dell advertised and go to the Dell site and once there they buy.
