Dell D1025HT monitor

One day all the colors screwed up and recently found out that the Red is missing. So doing some research I found out I need a VPS12 CRT Display Video Output High Voltage Wideband Amplifier. I thought at first I was missing a pin on the cable that would of did this but i guess not, unless that could also be the problem?

But my question, is it possible for me to open my monitor up and replace it?
Anyone familiar with repairing monitors?
Any help would be great.

Thx

Ok, the 1025HT is a standard Trinitron monitor. It doesn't need anything special. This monitor has a simple self test. Turn it off, unplug it, turn it back on and the color bars appear. If you don't see red, that gun is dead and you should throw it away. Here is a link to the monitor pinout (you might have to do the free registration)

That is a common problem with that model monitor.

Replacing the IC requires dismantling a good deal of the monitor.
Once the chasis board is removed, it is relatively easy to replace, provided
that your de-soldering/soldering skills are good.

When desoldering, it is very easy to lift traces if to much heat is applied.
You need access to a good Desoldering/Soldering (temperature control) Station
to do the job correctly.

Spending $25.00 on the IC is better than throwing the monitor away (provided you have experience
in fixing it yourself).

If you need help in locating the part PM me.

Pin 1 is RED.
Pin 6 is RED ground.

Check both for looseness or if bent/missing.

To replace, you would be better off replacing the Cable as the break
could be just about anywhere in the cable itself.

Be forewarned, the IC still may be bad.
