Dell "compatible" LCD PS?

I'm buying three old Dell LCDs, and seems like people are always losing the power supplies, so I am ending up one short. Last time I looked the PS from Dell or even used was a bit pricey, but tonight I found a number of vendors on ebay and amazon selling them for about $10 shipped, but they aren't from Dell, they are compatibles.

Anybody have some first hand experience with this aftermarket cheap PS? They offer a 3 year warranty, but looks cheaper to buy one than to rma a bad one.

I do, they work perfectly fine. In fact I bough a lot of aftermarket computer cable and accessories from ebay, never had any complaints.

PS - btw, when you say power supply, I am thinking power cable. now I know some dell monitors do infact use actual power supplies but I have never bought them. I did however buy a aftermarket power supply for a laptop from ebay, worked well, no issues

How old are these LCD's? Most new ones have a standard PC power cable connection for 120/240V power.

I like 1600 x 1200, picked up a Dell 2001fp a few months back, really liked it and bought two more this week to replace some OLD crts we still use. One of the recent ones is missing the PA-9 r0423 power supply brick, so I am considering a cheap one off ebay vs a non cheap used real Dell.

I think I will just buy one, $9 shipped, and see how it does. Put it on the killawatt and see how efficient it is compared to genuine Dell etc.

It's not the efficiency that will possibly hurt, it's if they skimped on filtering and generic capacitors.

Simple rule of thumb for these is if they don't disclose the brand name, ask them. If it's some generic/unknown brand, pass on it. Major brand units can fail too, but it's a significantly higher assurance of at least a minimum quality level unless it's an outright forgery of a major brand... which isn't exactly unheard of on eBay but I haven't yet heard of it happening with brick PSU.
