Dell Buys Alienware?!?!? UPDATE!

or it could be that the only reason why Dell bought alienware is because when they decided to release amd systems they didnt wanna go thru alot of hassle so they bought a company that already made amd gaming/workstations.

The two owners started Alienware with 10k between themselves ten years ago. Last year they had sales of ~$255 million. I'd say the time was about right to cash out, if the rumor is confirmed true.
 
I guess Dell will now be selling the AMD procs in systems, even though they said they wouldn't be, although it will be under the Alienware name.
 
Maybe, maybe not. AW may now be strictly Intel-based. And with Conroe out later this year, who cares. This will work well for me an my Intel stock. 😀
 
also it makes alot of sense....
the gaming market is actually pretty small compared to those gamers who build there own..

Look at the economics of such a move...

My gut feeling says Alienware wasn`t doing so goood, so the time actually came to bail...
just my opinion!!
 
So Dell, the compay that makes AMAZING gaming systems (in their fantasies) is resorting to owning a company that uses inferior AMD chips in their gaming machines? Wow... Just wow.
