How could someone have not taken notice of the recall by now and checked their laptop?

Well, ok I admit, I put off checking if mine was one that needed it for like a week. Because it's always on A/C power at home anymore, and it ended up not being in on the recall.

Well somebody didn't do their recall...

Damn that's a pretty nasty mess there.

Considering it took 5 weeks to get my battery after ordering one, I'm not surprise people who need to use the battery are still using the faulty batteries.

I'm waiting for this to happen at my place of work. We have at least 1000 dell laptops in the building I work at alone, and I know there are some recall ones. The total number of Dell laptops in the entire organization has to be huge. The problem is, Dell is taking FOREVER to get the frigging batteries out. Since we are a very large client, Dell is sending us a mass shipment of batteries, and we will replace them and send Dell back the bad ones. Well they still have not got us the batteries. My personal machine at work had a bad battery, so instead of waiting I filled the web form out myself. That was over a month ago and I still have not seen that frigging battery.

All kidding aside, what is going to happen when this happens on a plane?

when will any world government step up and slap sony upside its head.

Tosihba just issued a recall, a ibm thinkpad exploded at lax.

how many more major brands are left that haven't been recalled or had some problem?

i honestly fear that moment

Yup. I think it would be unlikely that it would take out the plane (unless it happened to quickly eat through the plastic floor/wall and took out the wiring), but it would cause the whole plane to fill with toxic smoke (no matter how fast the flight attendant got to the fire extinguisher).

Lol, I'm writting on the exact same type of laptop as the one in the picture right now. Everyone had to get this laptop in the engineering school and I also know many people with recalled batteries, but I still believe the chances of my battery blowing up are so low its not worth the effort to fill out the stupid form and get a new one.

This is BULLSHIT! I checked my battery and its BAD. I've been waiting for OVER A MONTH for a replacement. I was told it would take only 20 business days to receive the new battery. I leave on a business trip on Sunday. If my laptop catches fire on any of the four (4) flights I have to take next week I'm going to be pissed!
