That's an awesome deal. Here is something that will make it even better!! You can renew your newspaper subscription at the mall and possibly get a gift certificate that can be used at any store in the mall (includes Dell Kiosk, etc). Use that gift certificate to lower the price even more! Here's my deal:

$199 Dell Axim 300MHz PDA
- $50 MIR
- $25 Mall Gift Certificate for renewal of newspaper
------------------------------
$124 Total (not including S/H and Tax)

You might get more if they take the 10% off email coupon (I forgot to ask when I called). This deal is over at Triangle Town Center in Raleigh, NC. Check your newspaper stands in your local mall to see if they are giving out gift certificates. I heading out now (with my 10% off email printout)!

Hanes Mall in Winston Salem, NC has a similar deal, but the Dell kiosk sales people would not accept a mall GC or even a Dell coupon from a Dell catalog! The $50 instant offer is already a coupon code they enter so it probably would not have been stackable anyway. 🙁

fthomas64, scheduling/notes is why PDA's have become so popular, they are awesome. think of having MS Outlook (if you use Outlook) in your pocket...

WTH, Mambo... What would you PM? This is probably the best deal out there for an XScale-based PDA. I don't know of another for this price. And typically a PM is done with the same product but different store. Who else sells this PDA? It's a Dell and the only other place to get Dell is from individuals or the after-marketers selling on EBay... Not sure where you are going with the PM angle...

I doubt a PM would work but he's probably thinking of ordering online at Dell.com and PM'ing against Dell kiosk (B&M)?

Again I highly doubt that it would work but it's worth a shot.

Just called the kiosk store at Polaris in Columbus OH and they said that they are no longer doing the $50 instant off for the Axim YMMV.

Oh yeah, I would think that they would have removed the instant rebate at kiosk and also the mail in rebate 2 days ago due to heavy demand for the PDA. But apparently not. But now that they may have started to go thru their order numbers for the first couple of days I think they are going to remove the mail in rebate soon too.

But that is my speculation. Still waiting for a Full review of the PDA to pop up somewhere. Pocketpcpassion.com have the PDa but its going to take some time to compare it with the compaqs and post up a thorough review. But I am optimistic. I hope that the memory access speed on the dell is good. Otherwise I might consider cancelling.

I just went to a Dell Kiosks in Franklin, TN. They said the deal is no good now. The guy told me that I would have to buy a pc with it to get the $50 instant rebate. He went ahead and tried to use his coupon code to see if he could get it to work, but no luck. 🙁 Oh well

Theres also been some discussion about using the both 10% coupons, which would void the 50 dollar rebate. Can anyone confirm this?

DUUUUDE!
I'M GETTING A DELL!!

You don't have to visit the kiosk to get the kiosk price.
I just called a kiosk in an adjacent state and got the $299 price.
He took my order over the phone.
He said his coupon code wasn't working and that the price would be $349.
I told him I would just order at the website, then.
He called in to Dell. He told me they were working on the website, which was affecting the coupon codes.
He told me my price would be $299. Free shipping included.
To think I almost bought an obsolete (Jornada 568) PDA for $349 two weeks ago.
Now I just need to wait for the high capacity battery to be available again.

If someone is getting the deal still, could you please post the phone number or dell extension, so others can get in on the action. I've called two places, and they both don't know anything about it. 🙁

I just called two kiosks in Ohio (Eastgate and Tristate) and both indicated that the price was $199 and $299 after rebate. That is, cost at kiosk would be $249 and $349 respectively and then send in for $50 rebate.

Both Dell employees did not seem to be too confident when discussing the rebates etc and what the final price would be........ but in the end I got the same answer from both of them.

At $199 and $299 I'm not tempted. I can wait to see how the competition responds to Dell's moves keep my Palm alive for another 12 months.

If anyone can tell me how to get these for $149 and $249 respectively let me know........

Can someone please confirm if this is real ...... I wanna call my folks in FL and have them pick one up for me........ but I gotta do it soon ....

People please don't call Dell employees about this just stop by the Kiosk and verfiy -- a sure way to kill this deal is to blab it to them over and over again!

I called another one in philly. The guy has no idea what he is talking about. First he tells me theres a 100 dollar rebate.
then he goes wait.. im sorry its 249 - 50. o well.

Went to a kiosk in Louisville, KY. The deal is no go! The coupon code that Dell issued to kiosks expired yesterday. Nice looking PDA though...

This could be help!(first post)

Dell doesn't have store in CA, so I called my friends who is taking vacation at Las Vegas. Dell has two store over there, but they don't have in stock, the man said there is no way to get $50 IR, but they offer $25.00 discount. So I can get Axim 400 Mhz PDA very soon at this price:

$349 - 50 MIR - 25 discount = 274.00 with no tax and no S&H

here is store infomation

The Boulevard Mall
3528 South Maryland Parkway
Las Vegas, NV
Phone: (702) 369-0499

Good luck!

Went to Lloyd Center kiosk in Portland and the sales guy would NOT sell it for $199.

They do have a coupon sitting right on the kiosk stating "Bring this coupon in by 12/12/02 and get $50 credit applied to your PC purchase. Simple." (No code printed on it)

The guy stated that this was not a PC. Oh well, I guess the name "pocket pc", does not really mean anything!

What a bunch of bozos!
