They are the best at what they do and they have been and are a very profitable company. In that sense, yes.

I love Dell. Product quality is mostly on generic level. But their prices and customer support are unmatched.

Extremely competitive prices and machines that work. If you're looking for tons of upgradability then build your own, otherwise nothing wrong with dell.

I have little to no complaints.

Also, most of the problems that arise that I've seen from out PC Repair service has nothing to do with what brand it is. Well over half of them are PEBKAC.

You have to be more specific.

Any large comapny will have its detractors in some area or another. I'm sure Toyota is hated by many people for some reason or another.

The hatred could come from unhappy customers, unhappy competition, unhappy people who have to live next to a factory.

computers = good
customer service = meh, depends on the rep you get.
overall = better than custom built for those who need the support.

true for the average user i find nothing wrong with them, yet the upgrading one is non exsistant, but on the flip side i must give great applause due to they have some of the best laptops i have seen.

I used to be a huge advocate, but after they treated me very, very, very badly I refuse to ever buy one again (or recommend or select them for purchase)

...after trying to fix every idoits dell...

Just EXACTLY what are you finding wrong with these "idoit's" computers anyway? let's see a list.

In my case they sold me a screwed up system, tooks weeks of calls before I could talk to someone not reading off a flow chart, then they lost it when I sent it in. Finally, it came back and still was a POS. I gave up then.

WHY DO PEOPLE SAY THAT YOU CAN'T UPGRADE A DELL?

Jesus christ you can upgrade it just as much as you upgrade any other computer.

When you buy the PC, you should know if it has an AGP slot or not. That is the consumer's fault for not finding out if it has an AGP slot, not Dell's...
