Well, at least according to the pimply-faced kid at the local computer shop, after I attempted to explain the difference between AMD's and Intel's marketing.
 
Wingznut PEZ, you got a problem with pimply-based kids?! 😉 I will have to come over and beat you (but I'll be wearing Jason's skiing mask cuz I'm all pimply-faced and stuff 🙂)
 
The conversation came about, when they noticed my Intel badge. They started asking me why they have stacks of promotional items from AMD, but none from Intel.

One guy was really cool about it. Basically, just wanted to get a contact at Intel regarding how to get some more promotional items. But the kid then added "But just no P4 promo stuff. The P4 sucks." I did laugh out loud at that one. I kind of wanted to get into that with him, to get even more of his insightful thoughts, but unfortunately I didn't have the time.

Well, that was good for a laugh! He was right about the P4 (IMO) I swear- the 23 1.4 & 1.5's I built this fall are the slower than the 1 ghz Tbirds I've been building. Admittedly, I didn't have a lot of time on the P4's to tweak them, but I was limited on what I could do with the board I used (Intel D850gbal)
 
I dont know about arguing it out. I mean, you ever hear the saying "Never argue with an idiot, they'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience"? You cant reason with a zealot from either the AMD or Intel side (the incapacity to see any other viewpoint but their own is basically the definition of a zealot).
 
Oh, I had no intentions of "arguing". I'm not that type (if you haven't noticed.) I just wanted more tidbits to share with my friends at AT. 😉

Btw, they are hiring for a counter position.
 
How funny! maybe you should bring one of your reference manuals next time so the kid actually knows what a CPU is 🙂
 
Oh yeah, that was sweet! I think the Wings should just pull their goalie every night. They've done it twice, and won both games.

Hell, maybe they ought to just do it at the beginning, and get it over with. 😉
 


I went my local computer store this evening and asked to see some flat panel LCD's with DVI input. The 3 techs (all in thier 20's) proceeded to tell me that LCD's no longer have DVI inputs anymore and it was a thing of the past.. Like you I did'nt bother trying to argue.
 
Wingznut, next they'll be telling you, "Sure we sell Mac's, there're just not in stock at the moment." 🙂
