Needless to say, she wants pics.

Codey,

I have an even better suggestion, visit your local Dell kiosk which is only 15.4 miles from your home and see a 700m in person!

That's what I plan on doing tonight or tomorrow. Just to make sure I'm ok with the 12.1 WXGA display and keyboard. Those are my two main concerns.

Inspiron 6000 or 9300 here I come!

Interesting, $750 off of $1500 coming back again? I should have $400 in Sony spiffs coming in from a while back...gotta sell off that card, and maybe I'll cave and pick up a new lappie.

excellent...

yeah, i read . . . right outside JcPenney

i've only gone to the new movie theater and D&B there

of course, i only go to the mall with friends, and they have no interest in going to the DELL outlet store . . . probably that's why i never noticed it

hmm, does anyone have any pictures of just how much the larger battery sticks out from under the 700m?

edit: nevermind, the notebookreview link shows it with the 8-cell battery. doesn't look too bad.

That's what I told my friend to do, but she didn't make it out this weekend. She said if she saw pics and liked, she'd go with it.

On a side note. Sucks for all the people with "kiosks" in their state, as you now get to bend over and pay taxes on your shiny new piece of Dell hardware, all because of some little cart set up in the middle of a mall!

I have seen that in person, about .5in for the 4cell and 1.5in for the 8cell. maybe design flaw?

didn't like the 700m?

Nope it's mostly because of the display. It's a WEIRD resolution and the font on the Dell web site seems blurry. Yes I tried angling it and even sitting down looking directly at the LCD, it was still blurry and fuzzy. Even on other applications like MS Word, etc. Also the keyboard seems a bit cramped. However it is VERY SMALL AND LIGHT!!! If only it weren't for the weird LCD resolution and cramped keyboard.

The Dell sales rep said the 6000 basically replaces the 8600 and uses a different outside chasis. The rest is essentially the same, not sure how much of that is accurate or not.

The 9200 they had on display was beautiful but with 17" LCD it weighs nearly TEN POUNDS!

If I can get a smokin' hot deal on a 6000 with 15.4" display - that's what I'm going for.

I've been thinking about getting a 700M for quite some time now for car use. I am a severe weather watcher (not chaser) and I would love to get one of those USB GPS sensors for it. I kinda wish they had faster procs though....

Codey - Are you going to the Dell kiosk today?

The resale value on the 700m is quite nice, could make around $150 or so :)
