I'm about to jump on the 700m too... I love small and light laptops. I'd like to know if anybody else has experienced the same display fuzziness that Ross did.

A guy next to me in one of my lab classes has a 700m. I've never used it myself, but his sure looks beautiful. Text doesn't seem blurry at all.

I should have changed the resolution or font. Maybe because the display unit is on 12 hours a day is a factor?

Fortunately it seems to be an isolated incident. If I buy a laptop I'm going for the 6000. The 700m sure is sweet looking, very portable and light!

I saw the 700m, 9200 and (discontinue) 8600 in person tonight.

Inspiron 6000 or 9300 here I come!

didn't like the 700m?

Nope it's mostly because of the display. It's a WEIRD resolution and the font on the Dell web site seems blurry. Yes I tried angling it and even sitting down looking directly at the LCD, it was still blurry and fuzzy. Even on other applications like MS Word, etc. Also the keyboard seems a bit cramped. However it is VERY SMALL AND LIGHT!!! If only it weren't for the weird LCD resolution and cramped keyboard.

The Dell sales rep said the 6000 basically replaces the 8600 and uses a different outside chasis. The rest is essentially the same, not sure how much of that is accurate or not.

The 9200 they had on display was beautiful but with 17" LCD it weighs nearly TEN POUNDS!

If I can get a smokin' hot deal on a 6000 with 15.4" display - that's what I'm going for.

10 lbs? No way....I got the 9200 and it's about 7lbs.

My GF has one. I helped her order it during the last $750 off wave. It's GREAT, screen is crystal clear and like looking at HDTV if that makes sense. Only thing is, the keyboard is a little small. But the entire thing is really compact and I'd love to have one.

Codey,

So did you ever visit the Dell kiosk?

From the HD thread it sounds like you didn't get an order in on time :( at least now you have time to check out the 700m in person.
