Not as hot as previous deals but getting hotter as they come. Get a Dell PowerEdge 400SC with a Celeron 2.0GHz processor, 128MB DDR PC3200 memory, 40GB 7200RPM hard drive, ATi Rage XL 16MB video card, mouse, keyboard, and clam-shell case design. Comes to $500 before instant rebate, $350 after instant rebate, and finally $250 after mail-in rebate. For $100 more you can substitute the 2GHz Celeron for a Pentium 4 2.4GHz processor with 800MHz front side bus.

To get to the ordering/configuration page click here and choose the following options.

- Check off $100 MIR
- Select Standard Windows Keyboard
- Select Logitech System Mouse, Grey

Let me know what you guys think...

Don't upgrade there. Go with normal memory from another company later. I'm using non-ecc PC400 memory on mine.

I have a question about Dell rebates. I have a small business account with a bogus business name. Will the rebate have to be submitted with the business name, or can I submit it with my real name?

snooz,

you will have to send in your packing slip with the rebate form and they will get your information off that. The rebate will be written to the name of your business. At least that is how it has been for all my purchases.

When I did my rebate, it came in under my actual name and not the business name.

Easiest to just use your name as the business name.

This is pretty good pricing for a lowball celery based system, $249 AR.

But if you want to upgrade processors, you may want to wait for another configuration deal. Dell has multiple configuration offers every other week it seems like on this servers. Examine some of the previous threads to get an idea. They may even throw in a low end Prescott based systems in a month or two after Intel is fully ramped up on shipping demands.

OK, so here on slickdeals.net you can pick up this memory (2 sticks) as shown and it states that it works with the 400SC. My question is will both Kingston sticks work with the Dell 128MB DDR, ECC, 400Mhz 1x128 stick that comes with the sytem? Specifically, in regard to Dual Channel mode, can you go DDR with 3? I think the answer is no, but I just wanna ask the question to you gurus out there. Sorry in advance if this is a stupid question, but memory configuration DDR, PC3200, 3700, etc. seems to be more complicated these days.

Also, where is a good article (perhaps here on AT) that gives a good explination of all the different memory types and what works and doesn't.

Thanks!

I agree.
Save a couple configurations in your "saved" cart and wait for the perfect deal ...for the stackable coupon or the window where they upgrade the processor for free ...I got in on a eight hour window for the free upgrade to the 3.2 GHz last September. I haven't been able to configure one that cheap since then, which is over 6 months time!
