Dell 355 BT / M1210 XPS. Sluggish when BT is on

Got a new M1210 with 1.8ghz and 1gb ram. std spec.

came with Vista and I cleaned it out with my XP.

After retinstall I found that comp is 'extremely' slow when BT is on. I have to manually push the power button to turn the comp off because it takes forever for comp to respond.

When BT is off, comp runs normally

any idea what could be the trouble and solution if there is?
