are LCD monitors going to be taking the place of thouse LCD tv's or HDTV sets i know the Pixal quality on them LCD TV's are no where near as good as monitors at this point i think if i was going to buy a tv i would just buy this Monitor and run it as a tv and mount it on the wall should look sharp. better picture too. yea? O yea wouldn't that thing be a bit big if your siting 2 1/2 feet away? i would have to mount that mother on the wall.

well its Jan 5th, morning, East Coast, and there's nothing on their site except a page saying "Check Back on Jan 5th"
so what time are they going to roll out of bed do you think?

$1,999 Canadian at Dell.ca

😉 that's approx. $1,720 US for us up north. First time in a while I've seen a better deal for Canadians on computer equipment than those in the US.

Its cheaper due to a 1 year vs. a 3 year warranty... Still, it would be nice if they had that as an option on the US site. If you have a rep, you can possibly get a 15% discount, I know someone who got it for $1869US and free shipping (15% discount).

DAYUM! I *will* have one!
Even though their own 32" LCD TV is $1,799. Hell there 26" LCD TVis on sale now for $999...

yeah they seem to be offering 15% off right away, so its about $1870 plus tax,
that's 15% off an inflated price, remember...
that Canadian price seems like what it will/should be in a month or so. and remember people in Canada get discounts too...

we're just being GOUGED in the first week.

:frown:

when i hit customize, i says 1 yr warr.

well I guess the 3 year vs 1 year is a wrinkle to be fixed. I suspect 3 year is right as it clearly states that on the item description page, and they are legally bound by it.
it's far cheaper either way.

20% less in Canada, and then you get a 10 or 15% discount off that - nice price!

Well...I have 2 2001FP's already. I've thought of getting a 2405 to put in between these two so I can run with three monitors...maybe this will lower the price (and even lower more after coupons)

u n me both

"System requirement rumblings point to a Quad G5 with dual Nvidia QuadroFX graphics cards to work with 2K or 4K media. Rumblings have also suggested Apple will release an even larger Cinema Display than the company's current flagship 30-inch display, one capable of supporting all 11+ million pixels a 4K camera (4520x2540 resolution) will be able to capture."

Don't be surprised if apple releases another larger display in the next couple months. I also wouldn't be surprised with the price got lowered at Macworld on the current 30 inch however i don't know when the last time they lowered the price was so it might be too soon.

interesting.
Apple downgraded the 30" cinema price just a couple of months ago, from 3000 to 2500, so its not going to move that far soon,
on the other end of the scale I see Radeon's x1300 - a $96 video card supports a 30" display with dual link DVI now.
a year ago it was $1300 for Fire GL's to drive one of these beasts. funny how fast things change.
