IUnitek is selling the new Dell 30" LCD FP HDTV for $2399 shipped. If you buy this directly from Dell,it is $100 more, and then you probably have to pay tax in most states.

720P, 25 ms response, 350:1 contrast...specs aren't stellar, but for the price it can't be beat.

IUnitek 30" Dell LCD Link

I bought one, I'll let you know how it looks.

EDIT: I cancelled my order for this. There are better LCDs out there for lower prices, read further down about the Syntax 27" display with 16ms for $1399.

I have no idea how these all compare with the Dell, just posting some options for comparison shoppers :D

There's a $150 off coupon in the Costco coupon book, and $50 rebate. Valid 7/26 to 8/1, so it's only for those not in a big rush. That brings the price of this Sceptre 30" down to $1599.99 after rebate. 600:1 contrast, 500 cd/m2 brightness, and its DVI input is HDCP compliant too (definitely something to look for).

I found a better deal for a different LCD and cancelled my order for the Dell:

Syntax Olevia 27" LCD
16ms Response
750:1 contrast ratio
HDCP DVI connection
$1399! Shipping was another $60 or something.

They also have a 30" with the same specs for $400 more, but didn't really seem worth it for me.

The eCost link was $60 cheaper, and then they charged like $30 more for shipping. $30 wasn't a big enough difference to justify cancelling my order. Besides, my order from Tigerdirect.com already shipped. I'm looking forward to setting up this LCD!

That 25ms delay will be unbearible. You will have all kinds of ghosting/shadowing with that, especially if you want to use it to watch any kind of fast action anything (this includes all sports casts, action movies, and cartoons as well).

Seriously, if you are going to spend that much on a TV then don't get this, you may think it is an upgrade if you only have a regular TV, but the second you see a decent quality HD TV WITHOUT the ghosting issues, you will be kicking yourself for wasting your money on this one. Do yourself a BIG favor and spend a few mone dollars and get something different. If you go LCD, if it doesn't have a 16ms or less delay, you WILL see ghosting.

I was leaning towards that LCD TV too but realized the same thing.

I decided to go with a front projector instead.

If you want the best deal I have seen on HDTV here it is!

Dish Network Special Offer

I saw this about a month after buying a Hitachi 51" RPTV.
Don't get me wrong my Hitachi is about the best that can be bought for rear projection, but it cost me double what these systems go for.

Yeah, I'm glad I cancelled my order for the 25ms Dell and went for the 16ms Syntax (from my earlier post). The reason I am getting an LCD FP TV:

It is going in the kitchen, and will be hanging on a wall across from a bar. A regular TV is not an option, because it would block access to the kitchen. It will be hooked up to a cheap PC. Because the PC user will be using a wireless mouse/keyboard like 5ft from the TV, a regular 20" LCD would be too small to read from that distance. I also plan to use it as a secondary TV so I don't miss parts of football games when I am in the kitchen getting beer/snacks/whatever. Really, LCD FP is the only type of screen that works for this particular application. I already have a 42" EDTV plasma upstairs to watch movies/TV on.

I have a Dell Home coupon for the 23" LCD TV and the 30" LCD TV. $1280 for the 23" and $2240 for the 30". One time use on either one. PM me if you want it.

the spec said 16ms.....legit?

someone mentioned that costco will have the sceptre 30" on sale w/coupon come mid july?

w/ local tax, it's slightly more expensive (~50$-70$) than online retailers
but it's worth it, much easier to return than pay return freight

actually i'm still planning on wondering how i can get it home, won't fit in a corolla, camry or
an altima.....

Unbox it. Costco takes returns sans boxing (or at least my local one does).
