Shame about no *sync on it. But I will celebrate the fact that the game is on with OLED and >60 at 4K.

If you can afford a $5k display, you might be able to work around some of those framerate issues with overclocked quad GP100 under water. :)

Just FYI, I'm pretty sure that Tech Radar and a number of other sites that jumped on this news got the story wrong.

At no point during the press conference and on none of the printed specifications did Dell say this was a 120Hz monitor.

I was there, so I'm pretty confident I'm correct on this one, and if you take a look at a reputable site like Anandtech and Tom's, which I can confirm were also both in attendance, there's no mention of 120Hz capabilities:

I hope other brands use the same panel. That will drive prices down. I'm not much of a Dell monitor fan anyway.

I did see a tweet reported from Dell saying it was 120Hz, but I know all too well how unreliable people can be who are manning the twitter accounts of these companies (see Acer).

That means Dell either is releasing the first DP 1.3 monitor, or they've invented some shenanigans again (maybe dual DP 1.2 with MST).

Either way almost nobody is going to buy it like their 3214PQ because they keep the prices absurdly high while competitors are releasing products for 1/3 or 1/4 the price.

It looks incredible, but 4K monitors are going to be the ultimate frustration for enthusiasts under the new DP standards. You can have 120hz or HDR, but not both at the same time. That suuuuuuucks. Also, Adam, why did you even mention the price anyway? I fully expected you to say nothing other than your typical comment of, "I'll take 4 please" :D One for each Titan X is the only legit way to go.

Four? If you get six, you could do a 3x2 panel curved all around. With the thinness of that bezel, it'd be just about perfect. Really, $30k is a steal.

This is the biggest PC news in 10 years, even better than VRR. This is the beginning of the end for the LCD monopoly on consumer monitors.

Yup. And I think the transition to OLED is going to happen faster than most expect. These displays are also starting to show up in not insanely priced laptops as well. Apple is also rumored to be moving to OLED for the iPhone in 2018. The tech could very well go mainstream in just a few years. Exciting times!

BTW: the price trajectory of 4K displays is probably a good example of where things are headed. Sharp's 30" 4K LCD started at around $5K, and just a year later, we had offerings show up in the low $1K range.

When this happens with OLED I don't know where LCDs will fit in the picture anymore. They will only exist at the very low end of the market, and probably phased out entirely a few years after that.

O_O I'm in for a grand. Won't take long for OLED to take over and come down.

4k adoption is really slow, so I doubt you can expect prices to drop that quickly. Most people have working lcds, so they aren't even in the market for upgrades.

4K OLED looks like you are looking at nothing. Its like a magic window or something.

Agree on the price. BTW just got a Dell U3415W at a heck of a good price and I must say I'm impressed with the quality. You had recommended the BenQ BL3200PT and I still have it! It has been "repositioned" to support the 4790K rig below while the U3415W is with my 5960X rig.

I agree on the price too. I keep posting about my new build, and I'll want to get a very premium display to go with it. But 5k for a computer monitor - just the monitor, I could buy some sick equipment...I think I'd go up to around EUR 2000 or 2500 for a monitor that was some combination of: 30" or less; 4k or higher; 100hz or higher; HDR; amazing colour accuracy/contrast etc. This monitor hits that but yeah, guess I'm poor (wife would kill me if I spent 5k on a monitor for the pc...)

Awesome combination of features, but I just recently picked up a 4K 40" 60hz monitor for a little over $400... I'd probably have to see this panel in the $1k-$1.5k range.

Anyone have better than guesses about when we'll hear more about this one? I just like to see this kind of advance in the monitor game and hope reviews show it really living up to its specs.

This was supposedly due by end of March... and here we are and still no news on this.

Hope it hits the market soon. I want to see the competition coming with this product.

I am interested in this monitor as well. Considering there hasn't been a peep from Dell or anyone else since CES, I believe we are still a couple more months away from it being released...

French article says it won't hit the market potentially until Q3.

Mais où est le moniteur Oled de Dell ?

Translation: "The Dell UltraSharp monitor UP3017Q is the first OLED monitor the market. Its 30-inch panel displays Ultra HD resolution of 3840 x 2160 px, a 0.1 ms response time, viewing angles to the larger, virtually unlimited contrast - Dell announces timidly to 400,000: 1 - and a 100% coverage of the Adobe RGB color space.More good news, the refresh rate up to 120Hz. In terms of connectivity, it has a USB input conveying the C-DisplayPort and up to 100 watts output to power a laptop. It also offers an HDMI 2.0 input and a mini-DisplayPort 1.2 input. On paper, it's simply the ideal monitor. Dell has announced that the release of this new generation monitor is postponed. Originally scheduled for the end of March, it will be available a little later, probably in the third quarter. The US company said it is currently refining the final adjustments prior to production. Price, meanwhile, should not move since the UltraSharp UP3017Q will be sold at around $ 5000, and therefore at least as much in euros. That still leaves a little time to save."

No DP1.3? Well I guess we can forget about native 4K 120Hz. 60Hz w/frame doubling.

Isn't USB-C enough to drive 4K @ 120Hz? Unsure if it's enough for that resolution, rate, and HDR though.

If it can't do 4k, 120Hz and HDR there's no way I would be dropping 5k on it. If so, perhaps...depending.

Only if they enable DP1.3 over Type-C. I'm not saying they won't, but the confirmation of DP1.2 seems weird given that GPUs with DP1.3 will be out before this monitor. I'm hoping that the delay is to use an actual DP1.3 port. Either that, or GPUs better come with USB Type-C ports.
