Dell 2707FWP or Larger Size LCD/Plasma TV?

So I've reached a dilemma.

The Dell 27" UltraSharp is an awesome monitor, and for $995 that's an awesome price. But a friend said, "Why not just put that $995 into a larger screen in the form of an LCD or Plasma tv??"

Dell 27"

So I looked around, and found a lot of large televisions for the same price.

I also noticed they all boasted low resolutions, which is probably why they have such low prices?

I'll be needing said monitor for architecture, animation, and using Painter X, and of course to watch movies on, so this is why I turn to you, AnandTech.

My current standing is, "Just get the Dell," but would this be wise?
Are there better alternatives, better ideas?

Thanks much everyone.

I don't think you can get a 1920x1080 monitor for that price. I would definately avoid plasma because except for the expensive ones they are 1024x768 rectangular pixels. There is a 37" Westinghouse 1920x1080 LCD for about $1000 I think.

Ah, you're right...

A great mistake on my part, the 27" is $995, in my lack of sleep I had quoted the price for the 24" version.
