Dell 2450FPW 2005FPW now even cheaper!

Once Dell starts doing some decent coupon deals and putting the 2405's on clearance then I might consider upgrading from the 2005fpw. Just too pricey right now. For 800 bucks you can get an lcd tv that's bigger than that in some of the deals I've been seeing.

I wouldn't buy it for the extra inches, I'd buy it for the resolution and quality. I have a 2005 right now but I'd love a 2405. The extra pixels really matter for me.

Keep in mind that those LCD TVs are only going to be running at 1280x720, though. Maybe 1366x768 if you're lucky. That's not even close to the resolution of the 2005FPW, never mind the mind boggling 1920x1200 resolution of the 2405FPW. Go and price yourself out a 1080p LCD TV and tell me if you still think the 2405FPW is too expensive.

I bet we'll see some killer deals really soon, once the 2407 and 2007 models hit the streets. It might be worth waiting just a teensy bit longer and see if there are any last minute liquidations as the new hotness comes around.

I love my 2005FPW, though. The crispness of the text and the lovely colors brings a tear to my eye. Being used to my own monitor, I'm actually kind of underwhelmed when I compare it to the much more expensive Cinema Displays over at the Apple store,

Hrm, so, the 2405FPW is basically down to what I paid a year ago when it initially came out ($803 shipped).

Hopefully they drop some more! I'd like to pick up another one to use as an HDTV--name another 24" 1080p capable display for $800.

I got my 2405fpw for $900 to my door right when it came out. It's only dropped $100 unfortionately.

Definitely a great monitor. If you're going to buy one do it now. Waiting a year to save $100 isn't worth it.

I have a 2005fpw, and it's a great monitor (aside from the image persitance I have at the top of the screen). I'm considering upgrading to the 24 inch model, but either way I'm waiting til the 2407 comes out.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I've enjoyed my 2405fpw for almost a year now and it's just incredible. I traded this for two Dell 21' P1110 Trinitrons and I couldn't be happier. At this price, you REALLY do get what you pay for.

Just my 2 cents ...

Someone give me a reason NOT to buy the 2405FPW! Sure, the 2005FPW is great, but the resolution and sheer size of the 2405 beast is surely unbeatable...except by the 30" LCD and the 37" Westinghouse gignormous TV. 😛

It's a LOT of freaking money for a college student, but I can sell my current monitor for ~$200, making this about a $600 upgrade. I'm trying to tell myself my games will look like crap since I could never run the native resolution for any game, except maybe Quake 3 as I have only a GeForce 6800 256MB vanilla!

AHHHH! What do I do?!

Get the 20"...being a college kid, you probably won't be able to afford the yearly video upgrades to run games at native resolution. (And you'll have more money for food 😛)
