So I was considering buying 24" monitor (as are a bunch of people). Everyone seems to love the Dell 2407WFP (or atleast it's the most popular). The price is at $669 and thats the same as the BenQ now.

I hadn't really heard much on the BenQ before. But after a little bit of reading it seems that the BenQ uses a better panel than the Dell, has a HDMI connector, and also supports 1:1 pixel mapping. And have read that BenQ has a great dead pixel return policy.

My question is, what reason would there be to go with the Dell if they are priced the same?

Im going to say the 2407......I hate BenQ's tech support.
Also the 2407 frequently goes on sale, sometimes to ~560 or so.

I agree on the 2407. I am waiting for a sale to pick up a couple myself. I have a pair of Dell 1905s and the build quality and industrial design can't be beat (IMHO).

BenQ FP241W for sure... panel got a 10/10 rating on trusted reviews... has an HDMI input... uses a solid panel... a great monitor all around

Both monitors use a similar panel, the Dell is a S-PVA while the Benq is a P-MVA. I haven't seen the Benq in person, but from people on Hardocp.com forums that have seen/used both, the panel characteristics are not much difference.

If you need HDMI get the Benq, but Dell is easier to deal with on returns/warranty etc. The Dell should be $599US soon I'd imagine.

The dell does go on sell every few months. Every time they get a shipment in they routinely knock $100+ off the price. It was $569 last month when it showed "ships same day", when it says 1-2 weeks they are back to "normal" pricing.

On the topic on Dell monitors, a little bird has told me that Walmart will also sell Dell Monitors separately from systems in the coming months (im hearing late August). The little bird I heard works there (My wings are clipped so i can't fly) Doh i've said to much.

I'd still say 2407. Happy with mine. From what I've heard, BenQ has crappy support, and a few too many firmware updates far too often. It should be ok now, but the track record in recent months isn't good. That and I think they're starting to phase the model out(?).

Retail stores jack up the price anyways, so getting it from Walmart wouldn't really be any better (most likely worse).

However I guess it is nice if you are concerned about dead pixels and such. But not sure if Walmart would accept that as a valid reason for returning. Anyone have an ETA on day or price they are suppose to be? I assume around the $669 price tag.

Well it bring it up cause I get a %10 discount on it :p

As for pricing, they don't have it listed, they just have shelf space reserved for them in new mod atm. Pricing should be comparable as online though, they sell Acer 20inch monitors at walmart now, its like $10 more retail than online..so not a huge difference.
