I'm very interested about the new Dell monitors that are coming - specifically the 2407FPW. I've heard the 3007 will be available on the 21st December in Northern USA. I don't really care for this monitor, as I imagine it will be well above my price range, and my video card couldn't output games at the native resolution anyway, I'd imagine.

So, I want a 2407FPW. When will it be out in the US? 21st December, like the 3007FPW? And when in the UK (as that is where I live)? Will it be out later, or at the same time as in America, do you think?

PS. What does the 'FPW' actually stand for? Thank you.
 
FPW = Flat Panel, Wide. (just a guess)

What is the 2407? Successor to the 2405? (i.e. same size)

Yeah, the 2407 is the updated version of the 2405 - the only improvement (if you can call it that) that I've heard of so far is HDCP support. Not sure if they changed anything else.
 
Expected ship date on this one is Feb/March. Same for the 2007FPW. I think they pushed the 30" through first because they didn't have anything in that size. The 07s are minor refreshes of the 05s to include HDCP. I think they're changing to faster panels, but I haven't seen anything confirming that yet.
 
idk, hopefully soon i have the money now i am just waiting for the 2007FPW. I am wondering what panels they are going to use cause i know now that the 2005fpw has a S-IPS which is higher quality than the 2405fpw but if the 2407fpw has a hi quality panel also idk.

LOL...didn't say I knew everything...but sometime end of this year or early next year is what I have heard through the corporate grapevine.
 
So yeah it's January 5th, the day Dell is supposed to give us more information on the 3007 and hopefully 2407 as well. Anyone hear anything? I haven't found anything online yet...
 
3007 is on their website, the 2407 isn't. They probably want to sell off the 2405's before listing the 2407.

Damn. Just noticed that as well... I was hoping to see the 2405 go lower than they've got it ($879.20) and also really want to see the specs on the 2407. Resolution? Response time? Did they leave in all the inputs from the 2405? Price?

Hah! They are trying to charge £800 for them from the dell website in the UK at the moment. I hate this country sometimes.

It's shocking. I would love to get the 2405 (or the 2407 which I'm waiting for) for about £500. Why £500? Cos that's how much they're going for in the US.

I could fly there and pick one up for that price, but I wouldn't know how to get it back here!

Not really, the dollar is weak compared to the pound which accounts for some of it. There's probably also an import duty. And the increased cost of Dell doing business in Europe (employee taxes, mandatory vacation etc) has to be paid by somebody. Socialism ain't free you know 🙂
