since it has composite inputs, can I use it as a TV? or to play vid games?

new question: will my radeon 8500 128 meg work fine with this? or do I need to buy a new card...

you can, but you'll have an external tuner card to watch television. ex. cable box, vcr, etc.

how is the picture quality? is it on par with a tv?

It should be just fine as long as you're not trying to play any recent games at 1920x1200 :p

Oh, and congrats on the purchase. :) I'd get one myself, but I already have a 2005FPW and can't really justify spending that much money right now to upgrade...

but I should be able to run normal applications at the native resolution (1920x1200), right?

Yes, I believe so. The DVI port needs to support Reduced Blanking Interval, which I believe is a function of the drivers and not the card itself.
