Has anyone else noticed this subtle problem?
My system has two screens, a Dell 2405fpw connected via DVI (primary) and a TV connected via s-video (secondary). The Dell LCD seems to display images about 100ms later than the TV. Ever since I replaced my old CRT monitor with this new Dell LCD, I felt a subtle difference in the mouse/cursor responsiveness on the LCD, but it was so subtle I didn't notice it until now.
For example, if I quickly jerk the mouse to the left and I'm looking at the LCD, the cursor on the screen moves a split second after I have moved the mouse. If I do the same thing while looking at the TV screen, there is no latency at all. Also, if I have both screens turned on and displaying the same image, and I start watching a TV show or movie, when the camera transitions from one location to the next, it is subtly noticeable, but the change happens on the TV screen a split second before it does on the LCD.
This issue never occurred when I had a CRT monitor connected via VGA running along side my TV. Is this a problem with DVI vs. VGA? Or is it a known LCD problem? Or could it be my softmodded radeon 9500? Or is this an issue with Dell LCDs? Or just this model in particular, the 2405fpw? Or is it just my LCD? Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this?
This bothers me since I'm a gamer, and seeing the image appear on the screen 100ms later than it should is the same as having an additional 100ms of network latency for online games. As far as I'm concerned, this is serious!
