Dell 2405FPW + AIW X800XL AGP

System specs in sig. Kinda worried about playability with that combo. I do have the Video card OC'd to X800XT speeds without issue, but not sure if I need to run out and spend $400+ to get a new mobo/video (7800 GT) card now. I do game so I want to be able to play at good speeds with decent IQ.

how did you oc the XL to X800XT speeds? From all the reviews and other people, nobody even got close to XT speed...

AIW X800XLs are actually underclocked X800XT chips.

At least it was when I bought it. The AIW X800XL PCI-E is an X800XL chip, but as far as I know, the OEM BBA AGP versions were all X800XTs in sheep clothing.

wow....i never knew that...anyways if it is at xt speeds or higher, it should be able to run the 2405FPW but depending on what game your playing, you might not be able to have the highest settings with max AA/AF.

Thanks for the response. I suppose if it doesn't run the way I like, $400+ is not too hard to come up with. I'd figure a 7800GT should fit the bill nicely. Can't see paying for a 7800GTX to be CPU limited or close to it.

I think it should work fine. My 6600GT oc'ed runs HL2 at 1900x1080 with 16x AF, and 2x AA. A x800xt should run pretty fast.

It'll work, the 2405 also scales quite well compared other LCD monitors. It looks good at non-native resolutions for gaming also, in my experience. To run that latest games native at fluid framerates with all effects you will push even an sli or crossfire rig to it's limits, however.
