Unless everything you use it for is gaming, then there's surely a point.

well how would the screen look if your using a lesser resolution like 1280x1024 or whatever that translate to for this monitor?

You sure you mean the 24" one?

Yes, the 24inch has been around 730 and the 20 inch around 330, just gotta wait for the right deals.

My 2405 translates resolutions better than any other monitor I've seen. I run BF2 in 1600x1200 and leave it stretched to widescreen, and it still looks good. You can also choose to put the black bars on the side.

Anyways, I have a 6800GT and I can game fine. Some stuff lags a little when I run at 1920 res and all details all the way up, but rarely do I see less than 30fps.

Great monitor, just not the best price!

I put together a 4500+, 2gb XMS, and a 7800gtx OC and my friend put his dell 2405 screen on it. BF2 is really pretty, everything maxed with 2xaa and we still get 45ish fps But let me tell ya this, You need a nice screen like this to bring out the full potential of a high end gaming rig these days.

I have a question. If someone found a good deal on a LCD TV (not projection) at say Circuit City or Best Buy, could it be used for a gaming monitor? Or are the DELL monitors inherently better for gaming?

Most of the LCD TVs have crappy resolutions so they wouldn't be that good for computer work and gaming. LCD monitors (doesn't have to be Dell) are what you should look for.

yea, and dell doesn't mean anything. they make bad monitors also. it's just that their high-end stuff is usually pretty cheap (after coupon) compared to others.
but LG is a great brand, viewsonic's high-end stuff is good, and samsung is also good.

and some lcd tv's are basically a computer monitor with a tv-tuner built-in. so, they do have high resolutions

I don't think it was ever that cheap. And if it was, that is after fatcash or whatever was applied and a $35 off coupon bought on Ebay. Maybe even social engineering too.
