So, I am now 60% certain DELL is trying to jack up the earnings number for their 2nd quarter...or is it 1st for them?

🙂

Hmm I'm not sure if I used that coupon, but I did get a price at around $800 from rep Clay. I ordered oh Friday 6/17 and my monitor is stuck in the production phase on Dell's website. I am surprised it takes this long to ship it. What number did you call rexian? Every time I call Dell and try to check my order status, I get thrown into the automatted status system, when all I want to do is talk to a real person.

Spar,

I think Clay may have used a combination AMEX discount plus whatever else he could dig up to somehow get it to $800. I pm'd like 40 people with Clay's info to get it at $800, did anyone order and get their monitor shipped yet?

Guys - Has anyone received delivery of any of the DELL 2405fpW's bought after 6/15/2005 from DELL Home with 25% discount? I have ordered one for $881. The estimated ship date was 6/21 when I received confirmation of my order. Last week that was changed to 6/24 and today it is showing as 7/1.

I ordered on the 15, it shipped out on the 16th. This was at the beginning of this recent string of discounts thay have had on the monitor so maybe I got in before the inventory got depleted.

Ordered it for $800 by contacting a sales rep named Clay thanks to abez. Maybe I'll be lucky and I can watch fireworks on my new monitor rather then in the sky. =] .. But I tend to doubt it.......

If this rep is offering a better deal by $40, can you post his contact info? Any reason we are not allow to do this? I recall from past deals that it was OK to post the reps contact info if they agreed.

I talked with Clay earlier this week (Wednesday), and he said that he couldn't do any more 2405's at that price right now.

What are you talking about? This thread and email was sent out on Wed.

Talk to your Reps. They will still do $840 if they sent you that email.

I called the numbers provided in this thread. Never could get hold of those folks. They called me back after I emailed them about purchasing the monitor. However, for order status, I used the number from dell website for order status queries...and yes, I was also thrown to automated system after some guy called Jay asked me std. questions and put me hold and made me wait for "godot". However, I am certain that real people won't/can't tell you more than you already know.

On a much lighter note, the DELL support is in India..and they are NOT authorized to give you any info other than what their screen prompters say...DELL, I bet, will send me the monitor after I curse the sh*t out of them. Next week I will start calling them for next day delivery...lets see how it goes. Each call from us costs DELL money. DELL must know that. I am thinking of shorting DELL this quarter.

Spar and some others are talking about a rep named Clay that was giving people the monitors for $800+tax late last week and early this week. I posted about it in the other thread and told people to PM cause I didn't want Clay deluged with people trying to contact him.

This $840 deal is something else but he came up.

There were 3 recent deals in the last 2 weeks that are causing some confusion?
First a Dell Small Bus coupon with 25% off ? This was the one that some of us were able to get an addl 5-10% off for using an AE card (for total of 30-35%)
Then a Dell Home coupon for 25% off - 500 uses
And now this deal for 30% off which is being offered only through the WIPRO folks as far as I know (someone correct me if they are currently getting this pricing from other reps). I believe this is the only currently active deal

The pricing from Clay sounds like it was occurring when the first 2 deals were active from Dell Home and Dell Small Bus. It appears the WIPRO folks can offer better pricing when an active deal is running from Dell Home or Small Bus. See the following email string that occurred while I was trying to find out if the WIPRO rep could get everyone the same AE discount I received:

Rep: Thank you for giving me your Order number. I did look up on the Order and your account shows that there is a credit approval by customer service of $60.00 due to the American Express discount. But, the order shows only a discount on the coupon. So, I can honor the discount on the coupon but I do not have approval to honor the discount on the American express. I wish I could but....

Me: I am a little unclear?by coupon, do you mean the 25% off coupon? And that you can only the offer the AE discount when this coupon is used? Since this 25% off coupon is expired, that would mean you can not offer the AE discount right now and that the $840 price is the best you can do?

Rep: I can only offer a discount on a Dell discount coupon. I cannot honor discounts through American express. On the monitor my best price is $840 + taxes along with the free 2nd day air shipping.

Me: OK, I think I understand. One last question then: If there is a Dell discount coupon being offered, are you generally able to offer a further discount off the discounted coupon price?

Rep: If there is a discount going online, then I can sometimes offer additional discounts, for example, I'm giving a 40% discount on 2005FPW which is nowhere online. It depends on the product and my Dell margin.

Ordered mine yesterday from Patricia @ Wipro. It's scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, so my order did include 2-day shipping. W00t!

😉

Now, I just need to clear out a little space on my desktop.

ordered mine on the 23rd. Order says it should ship tomorow but its still in the dreaded pre-production stages. This is pure BS

I just finished up speaking with both Patricia and Andy from the contact info in the links posted by Wild1 and Dorsalphin on the first page.

The $840 for Small Business orders will only be valid until next wed. I was told that they expected orders to outstrip production and that orders placed at the last minute would likely see longer than usual delays in shipping (no specific dates though).

Anyhow I got mine in, $840, $63 tax for a total of $903 shipped. I had just placed an order for a 2405 from the home website at $1123 total so this deal just saved me $203 thanks for the heads up guys.

Plenty hot enough for me 😉

I know for a fact that I was one of the first to jump on it. If they delay any longer than a week, I'm gonna just cancel and wait till their end-of-the-quarter sales

Edit: Yay! Its on its way!

What is wipro, and how do I contact them?

I just received my 2405 yesterday at a price of $899+tax, free shipping. Can I get the above mentioned deal and save $60?

Wipro does outsourced sales calls for Dell. Someone else will have to tell you how to contact them though, because I don't know. 😛

If you already got your monitor, I'm not sure if you can get the discount retroactively, but it's worth a shot. 🙂

Wipro folks can't adjust prices. They are in India and don't have any access to DELL financial system. However, they can cancel your order.

I have received my beautiful 2405 today! I didn't realize how heavy that thing was...hehe dropped it as soon as i opened it...heart almost stopped beating but, no damage done. I paide $881.26 for it thru dell home and 6 months of no interest payment option thru DELL DPA.

Made a killer purchase of Powershot S60 digicam too....$267.00. Even tho not a part of any computer...digicam has become a defacto standard for pc building if you need forum help..which I WILL need. 🙂 Now, waiting for xpcgear and monarch to deliver other components..

- Rex

I'm thinking that I won't go through the headache of returning this monitor and ordering another to save $60. This one looks terrific, and I can't find any problems.

I thought that I had 3 dead pixels in a vertical line at the top, but when I switched the monitor off, I saw that it was a tiny piece of plastic (or something) from shipping: it came right off. Whew!
