Dell 2405 component problems

I have connected my PS2 to the 2405, the games come up fine and the first DVD i put in came up fine, but seems like 90% of my DVDs will not play. It will show this horrible picture, flash from black screen to blue screen, then say "no imput detected". I dont understand why some DVDs will play but most will not. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have tried two diff. PS2s. Can anyone help?

I have heard that this may be caused by Macrovision copy protection, the same thing that will keep you from making a VCR copy of a DVD.... Macrovision will scramble the image, or will not record at all, if you try to record a DVD to tape.
Supposedly, the DVD requests that Macrovision be turned on, and the HARDWARE (i.e. the DVD Player will then modify the signal it send to the viewing device (Monitor, TV, hdtv, etc) so that the signal cannot be recorded.
It may be that the signal from my DVD player has MAcrovision turned ON, and the monitor cannot decode the signal properly... causing the strange behaviour.

Thank you for being so helpful, Spikesoldier. But, if i buy a product that is supposed to support Component video, i would like it to actually work.

So, is there anyone out there that has had any luck with this issue?

I havent tried S-Video yet, as i dont have a good cable... I may have to pick one up... and try it.

It is definitely copy protection. Sometimes there is just an incompatibility between the player and the display. I have read about this with some receiver and DVD player combinations. Best bet is to try a different DVD player(not the same brand or model)
