I have used many many monitors over the years. At work I have a hanns g hw 192d and some other generic dell tn 19" monitor. the dell looks much better, but neither can compare with the 2209wa that I have at home. If you've been using a TN panel for years and years (you know who you are) you would be foolish not to look at one of these.

I have one of these as well, and in spite of it's flaws (I didn't get a perfect one, and the one that I exchanged the first one for wasn't much better) I'd still take it over any TN panel any day.

If only one or the other, go for 2x 22" or 2x24"

Having dual screen is better than only one.

Where was this deal 2 weeks ago. I figured the ips monitors were gone forever at Dell and I wound up buying a 24 Dell TN for a family member and a 24.6 Hanns G for myself

It's still not bad. I screwed up the coupon code, and when I got it right it was $239, which is unheard of for an IPS panel. I just bought one :)

you can still get a very good price by calling in. I ordered one today for 212 + tax. It came out to be 229.49 shipped to me. I am from Texas.

After giving it more thought. When I build my machine I am going triple monitors with two cards. Ill keep my 2001FP which is a 20 inch 4:3 and put it in between 2x24" screens hehe.
But I may go with 2x23s since the height actually lines up better.

Anyone that has went to an IPS panel, such as this, coming from a TN...was the upgrade really that great? I have a 24" Soyo in front of me with a TN panel and it looks absolutely incredible. My brother has an $1100 NEC 26" IPS monitor with it's own colorimeter and while it looks nice, I really don't see much difference between the two. I mean, I sit directly in front of my screen at about 24" distance and never view it from the side so the better viewing angles the IPS offers is a moot point to me.

I am using a 2209WA right now and must say it's got a very pleasing picture.

My dad has a Core Duo 20 inch iMac which I think has an s-IPS panel, and I think I like the 2209WA better.

I think color calibration of the iMac is slightly better for photo editing, but this screen's whites seem whiter and works very well for general purpose computing.

 This deal is for Dell small business only. How do I sign up for a Dell small business account?

I wish they made a bigger one, its only A 22, I have an older dell 24 inch I paid like 800 for before they made the cheap ones, and a 22 inch acer cheapy thats fairly new right next to it, I cant really tell much difference gaming on the 2, except the 24 goes to higher res, and has lasted a long long time trouble free.

You should be able to log in with a Dell home account and purchase through the small business section. I am pretty sure that during checkout it tells you to enter your name in the company name field if it is a personal purchase.

My (once very nice) unit died. Slowly degraded from beautiful to one vertical third of the screen being darker to garbled unusable mess. I've been in the process of moving so I haven't made it all the way through tech support. My pre-move experience was horrendous and made more difficult by Dell's choice to not give monitor purchases some special code you need to get support. Blech.

I ordered one from Dell Outlet. $199 + tax. Free shipping. Ordered on Monday, got here on Friday.
I cannot find any evidence it has ever been used. The bill said Dell 2209WA 22" monitor-Gov't Services Agency. I wonder if this was a surplus ordered but never delivered?
I stepped up from an Ultrasharp 2007WFP 20". Worth the money.
I tested my old monitor using the Nokia Monitor test and it looked very good. It had the same off angle viewing without any diminishing of color or image. But this panel has a little bit sharper text and the extra real estate is appreciated.

And no dead pixels. :D

Just an update. I've been trying all day to get deal on this via Live Chat with no luck. Most of them tell me the price is as I see it listed. One or two have told me they could do $269. One person even went as far as to say it probably won't go on sale anytime soon as we're having a hard time keeping it in stock. pffft. Anyway, I guess I'll hold out for the next big sale. If anyone finds a sales person that is able to do the sale for down around the $200 mark be sure to post it.

I was pretty sure the 20" iMac used a TN panel. The 20" standalone Apple display used s-IPS (better damn well should considering the price) but the 20" iMac cheaps out. The 24" iMac, though, also uses an IPS panel.

My dad's iMac is a Core Duo white one.

I base the s-IPS guess based upon that very fine grid texture on screen, which is similar to the screen I have on my 24 inch white Core 2 Duo iMac.

Color calibration seems slightly better, but I would attribute part of that to the fact that the whole system was built and presumably configured or calibrated by Apple.
