Coming soon to North America
Already available in Australia
The Dell Australian site shows that the 22-incher is in the "E" line. Clearly marked as non-Ultrasharp. It has the same basic specs as all the other 22-inch widescreen TN panels out there.
The 22-inch widescreen size is a nice "good enough" compromise: It has almost the same height as a 5:4 19-inch monitor, so it allows for added width without cutting on height.
It was inevitable that Dell would come out with a 22-inch widescreen, but I was hoping they would wait until a 8-bit panel is available.
Would anybody know about anything in the pipeline regarding, say, a S-IPS or S-PVA 22-inch panel?
Also, the reported price of $US 560 makes no sense. It will have to be priced much lower, especially being part of the "E" line. On the Australian web site, it sells for less than the higher-quality (but smaller) 2007WFP.
Still, this monitor is good news. Because of Dell's great return policy, one can order it, try it, and return it at no expense if not satisfied. Also, in combination with the upcoming 27-inch Dell widescreen, it should help drive down the price of the 2407.
