yea, this is probably to clear out inventory for their revision (I hope they fixed the banding and text blur)
 
I'm wondering if they will offer and exchange or fix to anyone who has one.. which is why i'm debating buying one now.. while they are so nicely priced... hmm.. waiting the 5 days i guess... 🙁

I jumped in an ordered one. I'm not sure how it will turn out, but since I'm mostly looking for the screen real estate... we'll see. I will be interested how they couch the problems they've been having after they test though...

After tax and a $35 off coupon, it's $345 shipped for me. Damn this is tempting, but I think I should wait until we see what Dell's offical response is. Or I could just say screw it and take a chance.

What should I do?????
 
lol i am on the verge of buying one too, but am slightly hesitant because of these "issues". a 2007WFP would go nicely with my current 2005FPW 🙂
 
I am reading about this color banding issue. however apart from the fuzzy text, I am not understanding what color banding actually is. Can someone please enlighten this fool by posting link to some nice article with pictures? Please.

Edit: I found out what color banding actually is, I was searching with the word 'bending' to no avail.

The color banding is an issue I am sure... but as with all things I was balancing my desire for screen real estate, price and features. When coupled with Dell's generally outstanding advance service warranties, I jumped on this deal purely becuase of the dirt-cheap price. I find it hard to believe that Dell will leave their customers hanging with this issue... it's just a matter of whether it's a firmware update or a replacement of the monitor. Either way, it's a win-win situation for me. The price is worth the hassle of replacing another monitor on the desk and boxing up the old one... or a firmware update. That's my 2 cents at least.

I'm pulling the trigger.. funk it! Just trying to get a free 35dollar off 300 in dell home coupon.. (taking pm's 😉 )

Whatever the fix is.. i'm sure they'll fix the ones people own somehow.. .I also read about a fix using some program: which i can't find anymore.. 🙁
 
Has anyone that has ordered gotten a ship date? I am little worried how long it will take for dell to ship them out since the page says "Preliminary ship date unavailable." I am thinking about replacing my Gateway FPD2185W with one of these, despite the currently mentioned issues. I cannot stand the buzzing noise the Gateway makes, I have been through three of them.
 
They might be waiting to ship them until they decide what they are going to do about the banding issue and if they can easily fix it. Personally I think this would be a very good idea since you might have to wait a little extra now, but it would reduce the possibility of you having to send one back for repair/replacment right after you get it.
 
It appears that this is available here for $322 ???

I am just today starting the search for a widescreen (20 - 24 inch) and already know enough to be dangerous to myself and anybody within radiation range. 😀😀😀
Any comments are appreciated.
