And I'm certain that the North American version is supposed to support HDCP. Also, some people are reporting that the 2007WFP does not support HDCP.

I am interested in the 2007WFP.. and this doesnt sound good, can you please provide me with some more information on this? perhaps some sites?

Much appreciated,

Some people on the forums have reported different findings when contacting Dell. I saw a couple that were told it does not support HDCP, while others were told it does.

What makes things really bad concerning HDCP is that there's not real way to test if it does actually comply. For all we know the ones that supposedly do support it might actually not, or maybe don't fully support it. Its a mess to be sure.

Just do a search for 2007 and look at the threads, I know its in at least one of them that I saw people discussing what they'd heard from Dell.

You can test this monitor, or any monitor for that matter by connecting a DVDPlayer that has either HDMI or DVI out that is HDCP encrypted. If it is in fact compliant, you should get an image. A monitor is nothing more than a display device just like most plasma screens. The only difference is some plasmas have built-in tuners. You may not get a viewable image, but if you get one at all, then it is compliant. Upconverted DVD players output in either 1080i or 720p which is obviously not compatible with the monitor's native rez. But, if it is HDCP compliant, you should at least get some sort of image, it will probably have all kinds of scan lines. My plasma display is HDCP compliant, but can not natively display certain 1080i images. It will receive the signal, but displays it with numerouls scan lines.

Yes it has a tuner and coax in. Nice remote too.:)

But the more we used it, the more some of the small details irked us. The lack of proper aspect ratio scaling for PC 4:3 content, for example, seemed just plain weird.
No, You just plain dumb

Please don't tell me Dell would be dumb enough to release the 2007 without HDCP!!

If this is true, mine is going back!

Yea Otis it's the best I've seen by large margin - but I would'nt order one via mail order. To many reports of back light bleed. Plus if you're particular it's best to buy locally to aviod RMA pains and turn around times. Even with other monitors.
