Hey guys, I'm new here, and I am very interested in widescreen gaming, but I have always used 4:3. This will be my first LCD to game with, as CRT always seemed superior to me, but as I am putting a new rig together, I thought I would save some desk space and go for a nice LCD.

I am very torn right now on which screen to go with. I have heard good things about both. The Viewsonic is located here:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116285

and I am sure you all are very familiar with the Dell 2005fpw, so I won't link it. I am asking if you guys could give me some input, maybe some first hand experience, as to which you think would be better.

**(The Viewsonic is said to be 16ms, does anyone know the Dell response time? and could you explain to me typical and optimal?)**

Let me give you a little criteria that might help:

I do play a lot of FPS games such as CS 1.6, HL2, Doom3, FEAR, etc.
I am also into RTS gaming such as Warcraft III.
This monitor will be put to use for computer work, admin stuff for a website I help run at school, as well as general college work, but I would say gaming is the primary concern.

Both monitors are close enough in price. Dell lists at $699 on their website, and the VS is $600 from newegg. I know the dell could be gotten for cheaper when a sale rolls around, but still...

So, if anyone is willing to give their opinion on the matter I would greatly appreciate the viewpoint

Thanks guys,

Bryan

2005fpw IMO.

It's widescreen, which is bitchin', and for one thing, it's 12ms as opposed to 16 of the Viewsonic.

I really enjoy my 2005... not a complaint yet, other than the odd game that doesn't support WS

other than that, amazing monitor.
