Dell 2005FPW........ghosting.

Bought this monitor secondhand a few days ago. It's great in every respect apart from one.

There is noticable ghosting in games. 🙁

It is A01 revison, assembled in the UK. (Like me 😉)

I have tried different settings and the D Sub, but to no avail.

I have read that some people are just more sensitive to ghosting than others, is that why some don't see it on this monitor and others do?

Basically anything moving on the screen has a motion blur effect to it, unless it is static infront of me.

Also nowhere on the packaging or the monitor does it say "Ultrasharp"....it just says 2005fpw, is that normal?

Many thanks for your help. 🙂

My guess is that there is something wrong with the monitor, because I have never seen any motion blur, which is what you are talking about not ghosting, which is something else. But I play WoW, Jedi Academy, and other games with fast motion in them an have never noticed anything, and neither did AT when they did a review of it. Yes, there are some people who are more sensitve to that kind of thing than others, but I doubt that is the problem you are having.

I would recomend to you going to someone you know who has this monitor (or store maybe) and seeing if you notice the same 'ghosting' phenomenon. If you do, of course the answer is most likely you are very sensitive to this type of thing. If not, that would point to a defect in the monitor being the likely culprit.

If you are interested in my opinion, I would make an educated guess and say that most likely the problem is a defect with the monitor itself, but I encourage you to double check this on your own to make sure.

I have the same monitor. There is some very slight motion blur in some games, but there is no ghosting using this LCD.

My 2005fpw arrived today. It ghosts compared to the CRT I was using, but the real killer is the INSANE backlight bleeding from all 4 corners 🙁

can you show us a picture of what your bleeding looks like?

Yeah, I'd like to see what you're talking about. Turn off your wallpaper and set your backgound to black and take a few pictures for us.

Thanks,

Here's a crappy cell phone picture. I used a program called "Dead Pixel Buddy" to black out the screen, then closed my door and turned off the lights. It's not as exaggerated as it looks, but if the screen is completely black, it's noticable.

Wow that can't be normal?
