Dell 2005FPW for $389 extended to 7/30.

Wow that makes me mad; I just ordered it lastnight for 456.73. If I waited 16 hours, I could have ordered it for 414.72 and save 42.01. Could I refuse the ups package, get a refund, then order the lcd under this new coupon?

I'm just wondering if 40 bucks is worth the trouble.

Call a sales associate. They should be able to refund you the difference. Tell them you're going to cancel your order if they don't.

Call them up and they will match the price for you. That's what they did for me ... it's better for them than you refusing to accept the UPS package. They'll credit the money back to your credit card.

OK. I think I have to get one. But I have a quick question.

Does anyone know if this I can use both the VGA and the DVI inputs and swap between the two? The reason I ask is that right now all my PCs are hooked up via a KVM that is VGA only. From what I understand you need to use DVI on LCDs this size. My main PC has DVI out. So I would want to be able to hook my main PC up to the DVI connection and my KVM up to the VGA connector and be able to switch between the two. Is that possible?

yes, you can use both dvi and d-sub and swap between them (there is actually an input button on the display, so you don't even have to go into the menu)

also, i ordered the monitor about a week ago when it was $401 something, and I emailed dell yesterday to ask for a credit for the difference. They told me that they could not refund me the money (even though I know they could if they really wanted to), but instead they offered me a $50 dell coupon. I managed to talk them up to $100. So by asking for a $15 dollar credit, I got a $100 coupon from dell.com. it's not combinable with other coupon offers (like the $20 of $150), but hey, it's $100. I figure I can splurge on som accessories that I had been eyeing for a while like the mx1000 mouse and maybe a really nice mouse pad or maybe a joystick...

Call them up, they will make the adjustment for you.

Is using DVI better than using the VGA. Mine is hooked up with the VGA. I know my computer supports DVI ... should I change it to DVI? What benefits are there? Better image quality or better speed?

generally speaking, you will get a cleaner, clearer image with DVI. Personally, I know that my monitor just feels more blurry with a d-sub connection and I get a headache if i read small text for an hour or so, but no such problems with DVI

Well I called dell and they cannot credit my account the 42.01, but instead I will have to refuse the package from ups, and once it returns to their warehouse I will then receive full credit of the purchase price. Kind of dumb they couldnt just give me 42.01, but instead I have to order another lcd monitor.

Im surprised normally they are pretty good at this stuff.

And here I was hoping they'd drop the price some more. Looks like I'll have to wait till next quarter.

Well I got an asian guy I could hardly understand...not a problem though, I dont mind the wait if I can save some money.

I'd call back and talk to someone else. Thats not how it should have gone.

After spending over half an hour on the phone with some Indian woman who I could barely understand, they told me the same thing. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to do business in this way, seems like it will cost them a lot more to have to eat the shipping charge, restock the monitor and ship out another one to me. I explained this to her, but to no avail. Since I don't really want to deal with the hassle of doing this, I let her know that I would keep the monitor, Dell could keep my $40, and they would not get any more business from me.
