Dell 2005fpw cannot display boot screen

If you've got it hooked up via DVI, try it on the VGA output of your video card (or with a DVI->VGA converter if you have a dual-DVI card).

Sometimes DVI doesn't play nice with the funny text mode resolutions your BIOS probably uses. Beyond that... sorry. I got nothin'. 😛

I had this problem with a 2001FP when it was hooked to my system. Apparently, it's a known problem. Dell has a utility that will fix the firmware issue. I can confirm that it works.

You have to email Dell support to request the utility that will fix it. Why they don't post it on their site is beyond me. There used to be another site that had the file, but it looks like it's no longer there. I'd send it to you myself, but I don't have the file any more - I ended up staying with my CRT and returning the 2001FP.

My BenQ LCD did that for a little while - I had to switch over to the VGA connection to get in the BIOS. The problem went away eventually. I think the problem was with my video card rather than the LCD display, though.

i fixed it. I just turned it off and rebooted and didnt turn it back on until i knew the bios screen was up. It worked. Thx everyone.
