yeah, I will be using it as a monitor, why it is a no no?? the resolution is not high enough?? more pros and con please

"resolution is not high enough" compare the specs If you want to watch TV just by a TV card and enjoy the best of both worlds.

I know you would say that but computer TV tuner is a piece of *%^$(*^. And I am not a big time gamer, I am a multimedia guy. And now the coupon cannot be used for the 2005fpw. I'd better be hurry for the LCD TV

The TV is like 1280x768 max res. The 2005FPW is 1600x1050 max. That's a huge difference if you plan to use that as your main monitor. Trust us, they aren't called LCD TVs for nothing. Ever tried using a normal TV as a monitor? It's not pleasant...

Coupons worked for me. Ordered the Dell 20.1" widescreen for $418 with tax and shipping on 10/11/2005. Expected ship date is 10/17/2005

AHHH!!! I don't know if it is worth it to pay another 120 for the 20" lcd compared with the 19". I am not a HUGE gamer but I do occasionally game. I am also going to college next year and I don't know if having a 20 inch monitor will be overkill for me. Any suggestions? I might end up with a 17" LCD...Tough decision

No way an overkill, get one and you will never go back.

Just an update I ordered this yesterday and it's already being shipped

QFT
i ordered monday got it today. beautiful.
no dead pixels

Mine came in today. It came before my CRT was shipped by DHL from MA.

CRT still not here from last Thursday or Friday when I was told it was shipped.
I am watching DHL's tracking. It has been in the local sort facility for a day or two with expected delivery on the 13th. Unlike Dell / UPS expected time that was early, I suppose DHL isn't going to rush getting it before the posted date.

I don't notice any pixel problems. I am not a monitor techie / videophile, but from what I have seen with pictures posted here there is backlight bleeding in the upper right and maybe some on the bottom that I can see when putting a black background on the desktop.

both of mine are coming in tomorrow afternoon!! I wish I could afford to keep both, but alas, I am sending one back( I got one for $477 and one for $420 shipped). Should be exciting though. Best part is I can open one, test it to all hell, find out if its perfect or not, if not I'll crack into the second one and try that one. 2x chances to get it right. C'mon dell, prove me wrong and show me you guys aren't all bad 😉

I have read somewhere Dell 2005fpw has a backlight breeding problem
and it becomes a show stopper when viewing dark colors images or
DVD movies.

It supposed to have an excellent LCD panel (LG) but lousy assembly
which makes backlight breeds at corners.

I wonder Dell has addressed this problem by now...

With the implementation of Revision A02, they supposidly fixxed the backlight bleeding in most of the monitors, but i still have a sneaking suspicion that it still exists in some of the newly revised monitors, just maybe not as many

heh, I came home tonight ready to paypal someone $50 more than this cost for his monitor, I decided for good measure to check the forums for any new deals and low and behold Dell finally came through after months of waiting. Got mine for $419 shipped 2day 🙂

Not to mention the warranty, I would order direct from Dell 🙂

I was just going to say that, Dell does a great job with their warranty for this lcd....

I should know, i got two 😀.

I just got mine yesterday,
Zero dead pixels and no backlighting issues.
Although the image quality is absolutling stunning compare to the CRT, but the ghosting is seriously killing gaming.
Well I just have to get used to it.

sitting in the dark here I see I guess bleeding in all 4 corners when I have a black background.
I really don't see the problem with backlight bleeding since how often do you have a black background to stare at?

when you are watching a dvd in wide aspect ratio with the lights off is one case that it would get annoying. If you arent using it for that at all, i dont see a huge problem with it depending on how bad it is.

anyways, both of mine are out for delivery allready! Scheduled date of shipments were 14th and 17th, but they got pushed through and are allready here!!!
