Is it worth buying a brand new 2001FP or getting a refurbished one for 100$ less? I really want this monitor badly seeing im on an old Dell 17inch round tube :(

Any help will be very appreciated :)

I was wondering since the refurb is 100-199$ less is it a better idea to get a refurb or is the quality not as well as a brand new one

Thanks

Its really hard to say what the particular refurb will look like, tho you could prob call Dell, and ask what thier return policy is on Refurbs, should you not care for what you get.
I have a 2001FP that I purchased new from Dell, that I am Very happy with.

You'll probably find the refurb is one that has already been returned to Dell with dead pixels.

I would go new.

A lot of refurbs will be models that were returned b/c fo dead pixels. I woudln't risk it.

I just got my 2001FP a few days ago (thank you hot deals!). All I have to say is...AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a heck of a lot better than the 17" CRT it replaced and the 21" CRT I have at work. There's a big difference between it and my dad's 17" Samsung (i think 172T) as well. You will be impressed by it :)

Yeah, and the warranty on the refurbs is lacking as well. I got the 2001fp for 749 and it totally kicks arse.

If you live in a state where you are charged tax by Dell Small Business but not Dell Home, then I'd wait for a Dell Home deal. 750 + tax would probably put you over 800. I think you just missed a Dell Home deal... I think you could have gotten it with an additional $40 off --> $709 shipped.

Actually if you have any doubts about buying because of a lack of discount, look at Hot Deals... going for 714 shipped TODAY (7/28). Doubt you can beat that anytime soon.

Both me and my roomate ordered two refurbished 1800FPs each from dell around January and they have been great displays. I don't have a single dead pixel on either of mine and my roomate only has one dead pixel on one of his displays which developed a little while after he got them.

I don't think refurb means dead pixels with Dell. Generally, on new displays they will not take a return for less than a certain number of dead pixels. I'm not sure what that number is but I'd guess it's between four and six. So, even with a new display you may end up with dead pixels.

Don't take refurbs out of the picture unless you have problems with the shorter warranty. I don't regret my purchase one bit. Down with CRTs! :)
