maybe it's time for duals

Yeah yeah rub it in.

But doncha love the Oregon 0% sales tax ??? 😛

I'm spoiled by it. I have to remind myself of adding the "+Tax" to most Hot Deals I post.

I am so tempted to go dual 20" LCD's but damn that's dropping $1k which could go towards our car 🙁

Just wait RossMAN, and get the 24".

I see the % off coupons are supposedly good for about another week. Do you suppose they will come out with more stackable coupons during that time or would it just be better to use the $45 off coupon now?

Ordered mine (2001FP) yesterday afternoon - $507 + WI Tax = $534. I'm happy with that 🙂

But now I have a feeling that once the new 2405FPW comes out, I'm going to rather have that or the price of the 2001FP will drop!

I think that the one thing you can count on these days is that Dell will ALWAYS have another sale.

Shipping to Alaska kills 90% of the hot deals. Don't we know it?

I am wondering if running an LCD at a resolution lower than it's native resolution still looks good. Like say I want to run in 1024 x 768, but the LCD is natively 1280x1024... will this look jacked or is it no problem?

The 1905fp is horrible for gaming. Really bad ghosting. See the replies on this thread for more first-hand user experience. I sold my 1905FP and got the 2001FP in it's place. 2001fp is a much, much better monitor.

I run my Dell UltraSharp 1800FP at 1024x768, though its native resolution is higher. Mostly because the native resolution of my laptop only goes to 1024x768, so it is a pain to set it to the higher resolution.

It looks fine to me, even over a VGA connection.

I just ordered the 2001FP, so I hope a 1600x1200 display will still look good at 1024x768.

Of course since I'm not gaming, I am not nearly as picky about response etc. as others would be.

It's true about the 1905FP; it's rated response time is 20ms, but that is wishful thinking. Not fun playing games on it at all. 2001FP is a great screen, but I've heard a lot of complaints about screen-door effect on it.

If you don't mind wide-aspect ratio, 2005FPW is the best monitor Dell has right now. No screen door, little-to-no backlight issue on the January and newer revisions, extremely bright/vivid at default (I run my monitor at negative gamma/contrast just so it's bearable web-surfing), no ghosting in games.

The WUXGA 2405FPW is out in March...that will probably be the new "top dog" @ $1199...it will definitely sell like hot cakes if we see any sort of 25% + stackable E&A coupon; I have a $100 concession coupon just waiting for something like that so I can buy it.

I hope you're not serious about running the 2001FP at 1024x768...it has a pretty good scalar, but still, what would the point be? The whole point of an LCD this big is to have higher resolution=more desktop space. At that resolution everything will be huge, and you won't have any more room to work with.

The review of this monitor on this very site is quite favorable. Everyone should probably read the part about gaming response if that is your primary concern. I wonder if you can really count on 2 monitors of the same make and model to have the exact same response times. You might get one that's a little faster or a little slower than the one reviewed, who knows. From the review it seems clear not everyone shares your negative view of this monitor. With the coupons, it would sell for about $300 less than the Samsung 193P that uses the same panel, that's pretty good.

It will make life easier on my 50 year old eyes, and probably will get hooked up to something more modern in the next year or so. It will be used in the short term for my Inspiron 5000 docking station. The highest resolution the laptop screen supports is 1024x768, which seems to limit the auto configuration options. I can manually set it higher, but it takes a bit of work. At least in W2K. And maybe there is an easy way to do it, and I just haven't stumbled across it...

Thank you for shopping with Dell!
Congratulations! Your order shipped on
02-18-2005

🙂

Supposedly Dell has shipped the item yesterday, but no tracking number is available.

Do they offer tracking numbers?

EDIT: Does anyone know Dells Dead Pixel Replacement policy?

Have to chime in here regarding all the 1905FP bashing 🙁

Yes, it does ghost some in fast games. It's not a bad monitor though. Color is good, better than the 8ms Hyundai I receintly purchased, plus it has wider viewing angles than the Hyundai as well.

Basically, the 1905 is a PVA screen. These screens have wide viewing angles, good color reproduction, and better contrast ratios compared to the faster TN+Film monitors.

Honestly, you can't have it all in a TFT screen yet. If you are a casual gammer, or play slower stratiegy games, the 1905 is fine. Plus, I LOVE the larger text size that 1280x1024 provides on a 19" screen.

Good stuff.
