basically, this 150 off deal just saves about 150 bucks. Not bad, but I'll wait a few months and a better deal will come along.

Look what happened to the prices of the 19 inch monitors. They dropped at terminal velocity. The 21 inchers are kinda maintaining their high prices. They're gonna drop soon I bet.

Oh no! I just got this email from Kim! Has anyone been able to order on the phone recently? I have to wait till I get home from work to try. :|

Dear Dell Customers:

Thank you for your interest in Dell and your requests to order Dellware
products. I regret to inform you that Dell can no longer offer the 20%
discount and free ground shipping on software and accessories. Dell will
not honor the pricing information that is posted to the non-Dell online
forum.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Dell is still
offering a 20% discount on select Dell-branded upgrades. The discounted
Dell-branded products can be located at
<http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/topic.asp?~script=sna&~topic=dell_brande
d_upgrades>. Dell is also offering free ground shipping on all orders $100
or more.

Please let me know if I can assist you with the purchase of a regularly
priced item or with any of the current promotions.

Again, I apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your e-mails and
for your interest in Dell.

Thank you,

Kim Arnold

I POSTED THIS EARLIER:

I just placed an order for a Kodak DC4800. I couldn't get ahold of Kim, so I tried my luck with someone else. I got ahold of Jimmy and he gave me the free shipping and 20% off. He told me that he would honor it until tomorrow (didn't mention a time, but I am assuming c.o.b.). He told me to tell others to call him at: 1-800-449-3355 x44287

Good Luck!

I just called Kim got her voicemail and she even updated her message to say that the Dell 20% on non-Dell branded (Samsung, Palm, etc.) merchandise will NOT be honored and it has already expired. She also mentioned a "bulletin board"

Chances are if you called Dell Fri, Sat, or Sun and the sales rep said you got the 20% off and free shipping then your order is ok. If you cannot check the status of your order online please wait for Dell to update their system.

This deal is officially DEAD AS A DOORKNOB unless you want to buy something that is Dell branded (I highly recommend the Dell P991 for $367 with free shipping, FD Trinitron, it's basically a clone of the ultra popular Sony CPD-G400). So it looks like I will NOT be ordering my Samsung 955DF for $202 after rebate.

:(

Jimmy called me back and can only do DELL-branded merchandise, as well. Stick a fork in it, this one's done.

I'm still gonna try to fight this one. It doesn't seem fair to me. I e-mailed Kim asking for information on Friday. Therefore, I didn't call in over the weekend like everyone else. Besides, I'd like to see her fvcking prove that I didn't get it off a "bulletin board".

I'll keep you guys posted.

I just called about an hour ago and got the 20% off and free shipping. They transfered me to different people but eventually a person asked me what I was getting and my phone number, and went to check with his manager. The call was disconnected but he called me back right away and let me get the discount. If you talk to enough people, you might get lucky.

UPDATE: In light of the new developments today it sounds like you can still get 20% off and free shipping if you call any CSR other than Kim, do NOT mention my name, Kim's name or this forum. Just play dumb and see where that leads.

If you are successful in order PLEASE provide the following info:
1) Dell sales rep name and extension.
2) What you ordered (brand and model number).
3) Did the Dell sales rep give you any flack or did you have to argue to get the 20% off?

1)Cody (don't have his number in front of me but look a few pages back)
2)Samsung 955DF and a Creative Labs soundblaster Live X-gamer 5.1 (to go with the FPS 2000 speakers on sale with hifi/blizzard)
3)I just said that I was told to talk to either you or Kim concerning the 20% off deal that ended earlier than it was supposed to. Without saying anything else he asked what the items were I wanted. He then said he would have to go have his manager verify the prices. A minute later he comes back and tells me $318 to your door (pricing with the %20 discount and free shipping) and it will ship within 3 days. I called around 11:30 am eastern. I tried last night to talk to another guy and he said no. Cody didn't sound really excited about me going for the deal but he never gave me any flak.

I don't see why the new $40 rebate on the samsung won't work. I looked at the rebate form and it doesn't specify any certain retailers. $202 shipped for the 955DF is unbelievable

Whoa...what happened here...

<me thinks junior member did>

Okay, last I talked to the female CSR *cough* KIM *cough* that used to give the 20% off with free shipping it was around 10am Central Time.

However, apparently during that time and now, someone who talked to that CSR must have mentioned a "bulletin board" *cough* AnandTech *cough* so that's probably why the deal's off.

Please, everyone that ever pursues a Hot Deal, don't go running your mouth off about where you found out about the deal (this forum), that just does either of these things (or all):

1. Spoils the Deal for everyone else.
2. Spoils the deal for you.
3. If it's a limited stock item, makes the stock run out faster, and the people that actually contribute can't get in on the deal.
4. Makes companies and CSR who are related to any deal wary to give it to you...
5. Makes you a big NUMBNUT

Good luck to anyone else trying to get in on the Dell deal! :D

Enjoy the day people. ;)

I know Dell encourages you to recommend customers for them, but after RossMan got to them, Dell didn't know what hit them. :)

"So how do you know Ross?"
