Dell 1 Ghz PC Restarting just before Windows Starts? I've treid safe mode and last know good config, and the same thing happens. Do you think system retore with the XP CD would fix this.

What could it be thanks.

it just does it after the windows xp splash screen comes up and I'm thinking of trying to get some files off the Hard drive and then just reisntalling windows, doews anyone know how I could get the files off or what about just installing windows over top of it self?

Thanks for the help.

I don't think so to any of these qyestions, I just changed it so it didn't auto matically restart on errors and it came up with this " Stop: {c0000221 Bad Checksum} image lz32.dll is possibly corrupt.

Yes I my first thought after reading the OP and no futher was that your windows install was FUBAR'd I'd simply reinstall Windows and it should work. If at that point you are having the same problem , it is most likely hadware related... Generally reboots, are caused by faulty RAM and/or overheating.
