Deleting Private Messages -- how about delete per message instead of delete per date?

I could really use a "delete box" on my PM list. As a subscriber, I am able to have lotsa PM's stored here, but half of them are "duds". They're the ones that I PM'd someone saying, "Can I buy this?" and they replied, "No." End of story. I can't delete them, though, because I've got some good PM's earlier than them.

So how about a "delete this PM" and/or a "delete all PM's from this user" box?

Of course, I wouldn't be whining about the PM system if I didn't have AnandTech in the first place, so maybe I should shut my trap and be happy. As always, thank you to the anonymous people who haven't locked any of my threads yet! 😛

Your present options include:

Navigating to the PM History for a particular user and manually deleting the PM's you want to axe (Reply - Delete - Top - Bottom)

Navigating to the PM History for a particular user and clicking "delete all" at the top-right screen (forums : Delete All : History)

As for a "delete this PM" box on incoming messages, I (and many other folks) couldn't agree with you more. It's an intuitive choice to be able to easily delete unwanted PM's, especially in light of the 100 PM limit for non-subscribers.

The only problem I see with a "delete" button/box is the chance of permanently deleting a message that would turn out to be important to you later. Once it's gone, it's gone. In some small ways, it's almost good to have the extra steps to deleting PM's.
