deleting linux (red hat) boot prompt (need help ASAP, please)

My friend recently installed Red Hat 7.1 on his computer. due to some unexpected problems, he wants to get rid of the linux boot prompt, that funny screen with the red hat logo that ask what OS you want to start up. He does not care if he has to get rid of linux, as he cannot start windows anymore (windows no longer shows up as a choice in the red hat boot menu) We know that a clean reformatte and install will work, but that is a last choice as he wants to keep all his data. thanks ahead of time, and I apologize if I did not explain very well, I am still trying to figure it out.

So...does he want to remove Linux entirely? Or does he want to keep it? Or does he even care?

If you just want the choice between the two again, all that is needed is a quick edit of /etc/lilo.conf and re-running lilo...you can revert to the simple text prompt or fix the choices in the graphical menu if you want. There is no need to reinstall an entire OS to fix this.

fdisking the MBR will probably allow you to boot into Windows.
