is there any reason for me not to delete all of the cookies i have aquired? there are a huge amount of them, most for sites i never go to anymore. if i just do a select all(except for any non-cookie items 😉) and delete them, will it have any adverse effects?

You'll have to log into every site you visit that currently recognizes you... AT forums for one (if you have it remember you)

What you can do is sort your cookie files by date (if you have IE) and delete the ones you haven't touched in the past week.

If you have Win98, do a Disk Cleanup. They'll delete all the excess baggage without removing the essential cookies.

I do a Disk Cleanup after every surf🙂 -kd5-

I really like this utility for cookie management from Windows Magazine...Cookie Viewer

There are a number of very useful utilities from Windows Magazine that get major idiot proofing, and retain high functionality.

I always delete those indirect and unused cookies. They're wasted space on your PC. I use McAfee's Internet Guard Dog. I can delete unwanted cookies and webtrails. This utility also lets me know if a program is trying to luanch that if I have not luanched it myself.
