Look in your Sunday paper for the Target ads, and on page 10 it shows the software on sale this week. It shows Windows ME, the Full Version, and the price says $89.99. On the box picture it clearly says for PC's Without Windows. That is the Full Version folks! See the posting below for the pricematch details.

Just got off the phone with Staples, and they did pricematch this! I had to step him through the Target website ads, and then give them the Staples product number, 440212 for Windows ME Full Version, their regular price was $179.00. Since Target does not deliver, they had to add on a $5.00 delivery charge. I went ahead and got two at the $89.99 + $5.00 = $94.99 x 2 = $189.98 plus $12.00 tax, Free Delivery of course, then added on a $40 off $150.00 coupon making the grand total $162.58! Or $81.29 each for Windows ME Full Version!

Why in the world would you go THAT rout? If you take the ad in to OD you should be able to walk out the door for $36.00 + Tax. 😀

Maybe I am wrong, but I do not believe that Office Depot does the 155% price match anymore....

Yes, they do. That rumor has been going around for the last year or so, so the last time I did it I asked if there was any chance that they were going to discontinue it and they gave me a funny look like "Uh, where in the world did you get THAT idea", and and said "No, we still do it".

great find guys!
i'm rushing to find that ad tomorrow and to office depot b&m!

btw, how does the staples pricematching work- i mean, what exactly is their policy
thx!

Also... is this actually the Full version that Target is advertising, or is this one of those "wrong picture in the ad" kind of deals. An LPG may work either way, but I'm just curious.

abracadabra1 - Here is Staples.com price match policy

If you can visit your local Target b&m pick up a copy of their ad (or check your Sunday newspaper), bring it to your local Office Depot b&m invoking their 155% low price guarantee is going to save you the most. Otherwise it's best to order from Staples.com ordering 2 copies, using a coupon then price matching against Target.

Hi,
I found the target ad in the Sunday Times and found the office depot add, at least in Los Angeles, it says only that they will match the price, no mention of 155%. I always thought the 155% was from Officemax, not office depot.

I just wondering if people win and actually got those free winme sweepstick back in Aug. or not, just wondering.

It's OfficeMax that has (had?) the 155% PriceMatch guarantee BUT they won't pricematch every item and I think? one they won't is software. I could be wrong but you should read the fine print before attempting this.

This is a super hot deal. Has anyone tried the OD 155% pricematch yet??? Please post if you have. Ape Out.

My Office Depot here does not do the 155% Pricematch anymore. I went with Staples mainly to see if they would do it. I also did not have to hastle with talking to the OD folks who would have called Target, bitched, moaned, then maybe give it to me. With Staples it was no problem, quick and easy.

Well I took the Target circular to OD on Route 1 in North Brunswick, NJ. They made a copy from the circular, called Target...I must have waited 5 or 10 minutes but they gave it to me for an even pricematch (not at 155%, which policy I did not see printed in the OD circular). After taxes I paid about $95 for WinME Full.

Their shelf price was about $210 so I could see how this might upset them. Awww....

The Office Depot in Roseville, MN still does the 155% price match. I just saw their sign not too long ago (after people mentioned that they stopped). Back in Aug I did win the Winmesweeps. It was delivered about 4 days before the stores got it...

Successfully ordered WindowsME Full Version through Staples (SKU 440212) on a PM with Target's weekly sale and using a $25-off-$75 coupon (expires 10/20/00 or after one usage): Total cost (shipping free) = $64.99 + tax

Over the phone gave Staples CSR (1-800-378-2753):
  • URL for Target's Weekly Ad (which shows $89.99 & "For PCs without Windows&quot😉:
    http://target.com/weeklyad/detailview.asp?R=9&C=1&P=10&Z=6 (or fax the ad)
  • Staples SKU for WindowsME, Full Version:
    440212
  • Staples Coupon Code XXXXX ($25 off, in my case)
    (available from websites mentioned elsewhere)
  • My Staples Customer Number
Staples' "Over $50 Order" policy = Overnight Free Delivery via UPS scheduled for Oct 3 (tomorrow).

(Office Depot -- at least locally -- recently discontinued its 155% PM policy...now only matches competitors' ads...would have cost $89.99 + tax + driving costs + time)

You do all realize that you can do a full install of ME from a reformatted (empty) hard drive with the upgrade version? I think that was diad's point. All you need is a 98 or 98SE disk for ME to check and you get the same thing. I even heard a Win98 startup floppy will work, but I am not sure about that one.

i called a few office depots in san diego and none of them do the 155% lpg anymore. im gonna stop by later on my way from home work and check it out. i still saw the sign out there so im gonna check. hopefully they will.

Why would anyone buy this? 🙂
You know you are just wasting your money unless your university provide you the Cd for 5$ a piece heh

Kujaku, not everyone goes to a university like you do buddy 🙂
Is this a M$'s conspiracy theory for world domination? :| Watch out! 🙂
Bye-bye all!

can anyone point me to the 155% pm guarantee of office max?
i went there today to get a pm, and they told me that they pm only against "office supply stores". i know it's bullsh*t so just need to bring them proof.
thx
