Cops pretty much everywhere go easier on locals. I've been pulled over and ticketed for minor things in PA, Ohio and Indiana. In NJ (home state) I've gotten a warning for 62 in a 35, and when I got pulled over for having my inspection sticker expired for 6 months the cop told me which inspection station was fastest instead of giving me a ticket.

the stop should have been videoed... of course the popo are in charge of the video. I will call up the state trooper office and see how to get a copy or if you have to wait until court.
 
OP should pay the ticket and count himself lucky he didn't get tazed or shot. What moron jumps out of his car when a cop pulls him over?

agree, when im from out of town they'll issue the ticket but when im local they seem to be much more lenient.

getting out of your car after the cop gives you a ticket and walks away isnt exactly defying his order.

i had a cop stop me one time for expired registration. at the time it was like 411 bucks. he wrote it as expired plates, which was 26 bucks. i was grateful at that point. ive had my share of bogus tickets from asshat cops, especially while on my bike. i once stayed in jail for 3 days due to a lying cop.

Not true at all. They don't "sell" the info. They give anyone, including you, access to the system for $1/minute, but it's an old terminal system and there's no easy way to extract the data. In order to extract it, the company has to write their own computer programs to screen-scrape the data, all while turning a profit after having to pay the $1/minute.

ive seen the opposite. when i got pulled over in cali, they didnt give me a ticket at all. of course, it was a fishing stop with a bogus accusation, but thats beside the point. there is no real "local" cops in my area, theres too many people here to actually get to know all the cops that work in the area. i see cops all the time in my neighborhood, but rarely do i see the same ones.
 
That blows. Hope you beat it in court!

CHP has been out looking for speeders around here lately. I rode the motorcycle to work on Wednesday and I passed 3 different motorcycle cops sitting in their hiding spots with the radar gun out.

Trooper is just going to say there was traffic that you should have yielded to. For all we know, he is right. It's a judgement call. Difficult to show that his judgement of the traffic was incorrect.
