I know I know....however I thought that if one owns the original copy is legit to buy a backup. True or BS?

I don't think these types of posts are allowed here on AT, regardless of "backup" or not.

The games available here are dvd silvers and hence required a modchip either neo2.2 or mega2.2 and an AR2 card bootdisc to play.

where would i acquire such a mod chip and where can i get it installed in the NJ/NYC area???

and how much would it cost me??

i'm just asking because i have backed up some of my games already, but am told i need a mod chip to play them...... PLEASE advise!

I would not advised any one to install any modchip by themselves. I tried last week and broke the the ribbon which controls the on/eject button. If any one can help me to fix/repair that problem I will really appreciate it because sony will charge $69 for that repair.

This should be what you're looking for. Shipping from HK is a little steep, but the total will still be far less than Sony's $69.
