AFAIK nothing wrong with posting about guns, it seems that most of the anti-gun lobbyists tend to keep quiet on this board.:)

I think you need to change your poll anybody includes serial killers, insane people, Michael Jackson and all kinds of other malcontents who shouldn't own guns. :)

BTW: shotgun news is a good source for all kind of Gun and parts. Check to see if you have any gunshow in your area. :)

You may need to find a certified FFL license holder to get it shipped to you. Alos, I recommend grabbing a synthetic stock and 30+ round detachable mag, unless you plan on going deer hunting. It makes them much more fun to shoot. SKS's arent all that accurate, so I would consider it to be more a fun shooter then anything, although you can still make some good shots if your skilled with it.

Just want one for fun. Cause there are so many mods you can do to them. ex.. adding a double trigger (u pull it fires, let go and it fires again) :)

Russian built SKS's are hard to come buy. They were briefly imported in 1994-95, only a certain quantity was allowed in. On the other hand Chinese, Romanian, Yugoslavian SKS's are plentiful. There are some differences between them. Chinese guns are of worst quality, use stamped parts, come with spike bayonets (pre-ban guns) Yugo rifles have a grenade launcher adaptor on the muzzle which gives them a distinct look. Romanian rifles are a bit of better quality (workmanship) then Chinese, but not enough to justify a higher price. Russian built guns were all brand new, had blade bayonet, some even had laminated stocks.

Here's a place to try. http://www.interordnance.com/
Get a yugo. I have a Russian I got about 5 yrs ago for 250.00. It's a nice rifle but they are a little more expensive than others now.

I believe the Russian is more expensive because the gun ban doesn't cover them (so you could have a folding stock, bayonet, and high-capacity magazine on it). The Chinese copies are restricted, so you can only pick one of the three IIRC.

The Chinese copies are the most prolific, you can find a new one for under $200. So if you're looking for a used one you could probably pick it up for under $100. Be advised that most used weapons advertised in Shotgun News are military surplus, so it's probably had thousands of rounds fired through it. But one you buy a copy of that paper and look through it, you'll probably find much betters rifles for your $200, anyway. Any local gun dealer will have an FFL and most will arrange shipping for you for a small premium. I think even WalMart has done it in some cases.

I'm not sure I understand the question.

Do you agree with gun control?
Anyone haveing (sic.) a gun.

Yes, I agree with gun control?
Yes, I think everyone should be able to get one?
No, I don't agree with gun control?
No, I don't think everyone should be able to get one?

The two descriptors you used seem to conflict.

I think the question "Do you agree with gun control?" Is very clear. IF you agree with it that mean not anyone can have one. If you dont agree with then not everyone can have one. I dont guess that i see the problem.

It's just an incomplete question. I believe in gun control as much as we have laws already on the book preventing convicted felons, etc. from owning guns. I believe in having a permit process in order to carry concealed. These are both 'control' issues.

But I don't agree with the notion that only police and military should have weapons. This leads to an opressive government, as has been shown time and time again through history. I agree with the NRA position on the Second Amendment that we should not infringe on the right of the people (the common citizens) from having firearms. With that, I think you have to add some common sense to restrict criminal use, but we already have too many laws on the books that aren't enforced as it is.

Your poll is incomplete and as such I haven't voted.

de8212,
How much did all the mods on that SKS cost you? Also, what sort of mount is used for that scope?

It already had the detachable mag when I bought it. I did pick up an extra one for about 25.00. The scope is a cheapo leapers for about 50.00. I did have to buy a new receiver with a cope mount on top as well as rings but I cannot remember how much it was. I had a local gunsmith do most of this. Oh, I also had a muzzle break installed on the end. It was only about 15.00 or so.
