poor you happy medium, so desperate for a nvidia card at sub 250 which performs as well as the 5850 (when you could just get the 5850 for 250) that you have to link fudzilla all over the forums :(

On the positive side, i highly doubt it will cost more than 250, so your probably gonna get that 460, only to discover it doesnt perform better than the 5830 does.

IIRC, the 460 is supposed to be cut down to 384 shaders, from the 448 the 470 has. Given that the 470 is ~10% faster than the 5850, I don't see how the 460 will be able to compete with the 5850. It should beat the 5830 pretty easily, but also cost more money. If it shows up at $279 it might see some play, but any higher than that and it's going to be a bad price for the level of performance you'll be getting. That doesn't even consider if ATi ever decides to go back to the original MSRP on the 5850.

Not true at all ! I'm looking for any card that performs at about gtx 285 levels under 250$.
Something faster then a crap 5830 but not 300$ like a 5850.

Just picture a 5840 about gtx 285 speeds for under 250$. Thats all I ask.
I'd rather have a ATI card! I have a crossfire motherboard.

5770 for 150$ to fucking slow.
5830 fucked up drivers, and more importantly performs like shit for 240$
or gtx 460 /5850 for 300 fucking dollars.

JeeeZ!

The GTX470 currently sitting in my primary WS is barely matching a 5850 so I cannot fathom how its derivative would do the same...

gtx 470?

I was hoping for something around $220/$230 at about gtx285 speeds.
gtx 470/5850 is to exspensive and I really don't need all that power at 1600x1200.

Eveything else below is to slow.
I might just have to crossfire this 5750. :(
I really was hoping for something that I could crossfire later. A.K.A. 5830 but its crap too!

Just get the 5770 or 5750 to CF and be happy. I don't think there will be anything that will beat the 5770 in value for quite a while, and if you had ignored all the what is in hindsight bad advice about waiting for Fermi you could have scored one for $130-140.

That or learn how to use Bing Cash back and you could score a 5850 for about $250 or lower. In fact the above card listed card would be about $240 after cash back (around 12% at TD). Unforunately it's an OEM with only 3 month warranty.

OP, isn't a 870MHz/1300MHz 5750 at least around GTX260 performance? Why not add another? >GTX285 performance for a good price... probably around or less than $250.

How about a 4890 overclocked as far as you can, I'm sure at close to 1GHz it'll be as fast as a GTX285, maybe faster.

Of course I don't know if we'd all be able to take even more of your self-hate for owning another AMD card. ;)

You said

If it's as fast as a 5850 we might see lower prices. :\

ANd I said since the $400 GTX470 barely matching 5850 I cannot imagine how a derivative (GTX460/450) would do the same for less.

First of all the gtx 470 is 359$ on Newegg. And I've seen them for 350 + shipping.

If the gtx 460 is 10% slower then the 5850 it could bring 5850 prices down.

Now the gts 450 is faster then the 5830 so its possible the gtx 460 will at least be close to the 5850.

I was hoping for lower 5850 prices.

I think mid June is a good time to buy. Both companies will have thier full lineup out. Mabe I can hold out with this card a little longer.
Any major game releases between now and June?

are you serious? where did this info come from?

and your asking this topic to be deleted? Your giving all of these statements regarding a card that noone has even heard of yet, nevertheless knows the performance of and you want the topic deleted?

only 1 company has its full lineup out, and thats AMD/ATi since ..january?
There is absolutely 0 objectivity in your posts and even though you said you werent a fanboy, you sure as heck look like one.

this is honest feedback, take it as you like.

Since you say you prefer ati, and have an xfire motherboard, sell the 5750 and buy 5770 xfire. 5870 performance about!

Or compromise and buy a 5770 Hawk from MSI & OC the hell out it.

And yes learn to use Bing cash back.

I'm amazed at the frequency of these "what should I buy?" posts and the way they always seem to progress.

OP: I want a non-existent product that has qualities x, y and z for 50$ cheaper than anything on the market now! Everything out now is either too expensive or crap!
Everyone Else: NO! Buy this product now or GTFO!
OP: Waaaaaah!

There is no right answer for this question because it doesn't appear to be a real question.
