If it is a ghost file of winXP, then there is probably 0% chance of the restore disk working for you. It would be just like taking a hard drive from another machine and dropping it into yours. XP don't like that at all and has something to do with overloading the hash count because of too much changed hardware(don't quote me on that), and stops startup.

BTW: I am not trying to sound like an a$$, but you are openly admitting piracy...Not a good thing to post here..

Most restore CD's are set to look for something in the system to let you use it. I think its in the BIOS ID string, but I am not sure. At any rate, I know Dell does it this way with some of their restore software.
