Why would Turkey do this?

Could the situation in Iraq all of a sudden turn ugly?

This was reported yesterday by the way.

The US is going for a big push to corner the insurgents so they are using the Turkish border as a sort of net.

Northern Iraq doesn't have any problems.. or does it?

I thought it was all Kurds and the area was under Kurdish control even when Saddam was President.

I believe the Turks and Kurds do not get along.

I don't know, I am full of sh!t. I just made that up. At least Turkey finally got some new and updated weapons because until recently they were still using WWII rifles and such for a large portion of their military.

As for Turkey's military power, I would say they are the strongest in the M.E right next to Israel.
Israel and Turkey have joint military cooperation. Israel is currently (or has already) upgrading Turkey's U.S Jets.

No there has been a dispute since the old Ottaman empire . Many kurds believe that part of turkey belongs to them. And Turkey of course is not buying off on it.
I know a fellow who immigrated here from Turkey and we were just talking about this last week.
