yes, but a better deal would be digital research 50pk CDR from BB for fee. Both are made in Taiwan (i.e.Ritek) and DR has less rebate to be sent (i.e. less risk). my 2 cents.

There is no emoticon for what I was trying to express. It was not anger or anything, but more of a general feeling of frustration for people who post deals, then just openly mock the place giving the deals. Seems very hypocritical to me. I have seen many people do this and I've commented many times on it, but people still seem to think that I'm going to kill someone over it.

Xzero, just stop being so anal about it. And now, I do have the right to call it CRAP USA!!! Both stores in the central NJ area were sold out of the $4.99 optical mouse, the TDK CDR's, and the Compact Flash I went to pick up. And Caveman, if you called me x1dunce1x, I wouldn't get offended because I don't have a stick up my butt. Geezus, I wasn't mocking the place, but I am now. This happens every time CompUSA have any good deals, each store has like 10 of each item in stock, and by 12:00, they're sold out of everything.

that would tell me that i need to get there EARLIER next time.
those are the attractors/doorbusters, and ALL store chains are like that.

It has been CrapUSA for me ever since they changed to using the New Rochelle rebate center. I'm still waiting for most of my rebates from 11-24. Total crap. I do my best to avoid that place now. Hopefully they'll get a clue and switch back to a reasonable rebate center.

D.

CompUSA is OK with me. Not a bad place to shop, at least the store employees know something about PC's. Butt Buy is another story though. The employees are rude and haven't gotta clue. If Butt Buy has a sale, I go to Circuit City and PM them. I've tried to PM at Butt Buy a couple of times and they always found an excuse not to honor their PM policy! :|

bb uses them also. i am still waiting on my samsung cdrw rebate, plus i called samsung to complain about easycd not being compatible and my update to 5.01 has not arrived yet. i think now rebates paid by new rochelle MAY be a direct reflection on the company themselves, because i am having a bit of trouble with a sony tivo rebate(having to fax additional info that was not in the rules of the rebate) and the sony cdrs from xp launch @ compusa(new rochelle, if i recall correctly)
about to go read the visiontek gf3ti200 bb rebate thread right now.

edit: on the subject of the dr rebate vs. tdk rebate, at least EVERYONE will eventually get their tdk rebate. i haven't heard a good thing yet about iomagic/dr/hival/pacific digital/cendyne and on and on. i know i got my tdk rebate on some previous cdrs WITHIN the specified time period. i didn't HAVE to CALL AND CHASE THEM DOWN also, which is ALWAYS a plus...

I went and bought a few things from the one in Roseville MN.

They had a rebate on USB light for laptops. But the sign for the lower price was on the similar but wrong item on the shelf. So I had to return it and get the correct one.

I bought the Samsonite laptop case for $20 AR, but I noticed there were no UPC code on it. They told if I am denied, I should bring them the denial letter and they would give me credit. I returned it.

One cashier had a hangover. He was saying everybody 'Good Night' at noontime. I said 'Good Day' to him. He realized and said sorry. 10 minutes later he was still saying 'Good Night' to customers.

They sometimes have good deals. But the 'CrapUSA' term sound more appropriate after my experience today.

Also, I have the right to call this place CrapUSA because their rebate replys are too slow, AND do not EVER (no matter how good the promotion is) open a comp USA credit account. They are so slow to do anything, it's rediculous. I had my Amex transfer my small compUSA balance (because I got intro 0% interest on Amex) and they wrote the crapUSA credit company (called HSR) a check. It took them 5 weeks to process and cash the check. Amex cancelled the check because it had been so long. crapUSA then charged me $39 because the check was cancelled. I fought with them to take the $39 charge off, and Amex has issued another check. Hope they do it right this time.

Ok, I just got my $2.99 TDK CD-Rs in the Skokie store. All they had were Made in Taiwan. They didn't have any TDK 16x for $9.99 as posted in another thread. They only had some 24x for $19.99.

I asked one of the guys (a jack*ss, btw) about the UPC and he said the copy should go to the "CompUSA Offer" address, which is the $2 rebate. Send the original to the "TDK Offer" $10 rebate. (I think he just made this up off the top of his head.)

<rant>

This particular guy (at the "information" counter) definitely lived up to the CRAPUSA name, and I wasn't even trying to do a price match or anything. I explained how there are 2 separate rebates on one item and each rebate says it needs the "original UPC." He looked at me like I was a total moron, picked up the spindle of CD-Rs and pointed to the UPC and said, "See this? This is the UPC, you cut it out and send it in with the rebate." I said, I know, but as I just explained to you (you f***ing jack*ss) there are 2 rebates, so where should I send the original? Then he said, "You send it in with both." I pointed out that there is only one one original. At that point, the wheels began to turn in his walnut-sized brain and he began to realize what I was asking. Then I think he just made up an answer to get rid of me: "Send the copy to the CompUSA rebate."

If that ain't CrapUSA service, I don't know what is...

</rant>

<< Also, I have the right to call this place CrapUSA because.... >>

blah blah blah
Dude, we get it already. You hate the place. Everyone has a sob story about how their life was inconvenienced by a b&m. Its part of becoming a big boy and dealing with the world. Get over it and move on...

Anyway, most of us hate the places we buy from (except the forever loved valueamerica.com) but tolerate them because they have better prices than the "nice guys".

I've found things at CompUSA I've had to take to the Better Business Bureau (sp?)...

They are crappy to people, IMHO. The ad might still be good for price matching though. Like, take the TDK CD-R ad to Best Buy, maybe.

I just brought a Radeon 8500 from CompUSA and a Surgemaster II protector. The 8500 have the $50 mail in rebate and the surge protector have a $25. Now I think I am going to return both since the rebates add up to $75 and people here are not getting them.

Fine, thanks to the uptight a-holes on this board, I'm no longer gonna post anything, just read. God damn, I was just trying to provide a tool to help you guys get a good deal on some things. You ppl need to get the sand out of your vaginas. Please delete this thread, so it doesn't offend anyone.
